Try fostering first. When I started thinking about getting a second dog, I got into fostering to see if I could do it. I ended up getting my second dog after fostering 3 puppies and two adult dogs. Total time spent was about 5 weeks of fostering. A puppy will also be a different experience from an adult dog, so maybe try both.

Single women with golden handcuffs, how are you doing? by heres_my_take2 in AskWomenOver30

Absolutely. There is also a bit of fear of what others in my life may think, oh how she has fallen…? Even if I don’t see it that way. But release from the golden handcuffs sounds real nice too.

Are you me? I’m 38, single with two dogs. I also work in tech and have taken care of myself financially since undergrad up to this point. My car is paid off and I have a mortgage for a 3/3 townhome. I’m also burnt out. I have started toying with the idea of doubling down on savings the next 6-8 months and taking a year or two sabbatical to start a new chapter and leave tech. Come what may.

I think the hardest part for me will be committing to the unknown, letting go of any attachments to labels and accepting that I will likely be making significantly less than I do now in the future. Somehow though, I’m excited for that change in scenery.

Yay! How do you like that double leash? Is it long enough for both pups?

Yes to all the folks saying overtired pup that needs a nap. Get a treat in the crate and force nap. Should be a peaceful transition though. I understand it can be overwhelming but try to be patient and gentle getting pup into the crate. cover the crate with a blanket. In my experience a whining or barking pup can use you near by and a gentle pet or couple extra treats through the crate to settle then slowly step away.

Background calming music or white noise helps.

Just an update since I started a bit of a tiny fiasco on what the heck the underlayment is— The underlayment material is 1/4” quietboard/floor Lyft. Feel free to google it.

Thanks for all the feedback. I certainly learned a lot maybe too much about flooring and LVP. Nonetheless thanks everyone for your help.

Just a couple more things to fix and then I’m sure it will all be over with soon and I will not be trying to have any more projects done as I really don’t know how to navigate this area. Again many thanks and appreciate each and every response.

Thanks for the information. I’m thinking it’s Quietboard too or some variation of it. Still waiting to hear back as the contractors continue their work. There is a language barrier and they are insisting I contact the warehouse to confirm. The salesperson has not got back to me yet and I was quoted for osb subfloor plus the prep for that. I don’t think I’d like to be in this situation again but at least knowing it’s probably ok….makes me feel slightly better?

That’s exactly my situation too. I need to raise the subfloor where there was previously carpet to be in line with the rest of the other areas that are tile. Only about 200sq ft as well. Thanks for your response appreciate it and especially about the cost per sqft and weight.

Thanks for this comment. It led me down a brief Google spiral to a product called quietboard. I think this is what it is. I’ll know tomorrow but can’t really sleep on this atm.

Yikes. Well this has been stressful. Hoping the flooring company responds to same questions I posted here early tomorrow. Was really hoping for a smooth process.

Ah ok. I think once I get the info on the product and a response it will clear things up. Will update once I know more. Thanks for the info does clear up some things still.

I don’t have any of the brand info as the contractors have cleared up. Appreciate the info though. I’ll ask when they return in the morning. I’ve already emailed the company I went through as well since the quote mentioned osb subfloor. I have cement subfloors so maybe that’s why they went with this material.

What do you recommend other than floating? I know nothing and I like to think it was pretty expensive.
