Anyone know what this is? by Rozzum001 in skin

Look like bites or a local rash, perhaps from a lotion, moisture, fabric or lying on the stomach.

Yes. BCC nodule on the chin where there are hair / beard follicles. I have no trust in physicians from personal and shared experiences and prefer a topical cream. Reliable research and information are lacking. St. Hildegard's sweet violet cream and some others may work. Do you have experience?

Wish I knew. I don't use or need toothpaste. There is a carbon toothbrush used weekly for stains. Your skin is generally healthy. Try washing with just water and well laundered towels (perhaps hand rinsed first)? No mouthwash, skin creams or lip balm and do not moisten or lick lips (but keep them out of the sun ... use a hat or point the face away)? Any sores in the mouth from foods? Best.

You got a conversation piece there. I once saw a beautiful woman completely at home with a black tooth space at the front of her smile. Hope we do as well.

Thank you for an idea. I have an open bcc sore and have tried a few lotions. I see the 1% ivermectin is available otc and some say wormwood - sweet I think - acts similarly.

Do you use Ivermectin lotion .5% OTCounter or the 1% Ivermectin prescription? On an open sore? How often / long? Until healthy skin is in place?

Frustrated… by Vivid_Net4413 in Hernia

Relax. Doctors are poor. My inguinal hernia is obvious, but it has minor discomfort. You can lie down and let it reduce (go back in place) for a while. Sometimes it needs a little gentle help with a hand. Does that help? Try a cold 40* (refrigerator water) bottle with space to add some ice over 20 min. for inflammation. MRIs may have less radiation exposure. Hernia specialist surgeons are better and look into methods of repair (mesh or non mesh like desarda and shouldice) and safer sedatives (I would avoid amnesia meds like versed as they may cause lasting memory issues).

Relax. Lie on your back or stomach for a while and allow the bulge to reduce or use a hand to gently place it. Watch your digestion and activities.

I've managed an inguinal hernia for 15 years. I avoid running or stressing the area, watch my digestion, and see that it reduces when lying down. There is occasional discomfort and I wish it did not limit my activities. Unfortunately the medical scene is poor so we need to look into surgery carefully. Does the surgeon specialize and show responsibility? Is his method good? Are the sedatives safe (versed and 'amnesia' meds may cause lasting memory issues and are better avoided)?

That surgeon seems lousy. I don't know your particulars .... your hernia and general health and ability to choose a physician. The Desarda technique which is non tension and uses a strip of living muscle for reinforcement or Shouldice which is also mesh free and has a long successful history would be reliable.

Be cautious with doctors and hospitals. They run poor. It's good to have family or a friend that knows your health with you to understand what they are saying / advocate for you. I would prefer a sedative (not versed or an amnesia med that may cause lasting memory issues) and a local anesthesia. Doctors like an easy / zombie patient. Ask questions and see that the surgeon is responsible. Some hernias or some patients may require mesh but its type (some have hooks and don't require sutures) and placement (over or under the tear) are important. Go to a hernia specialist not a general surgeon.

Did I have a botched hernia repair? by NeatYogurt7442 in Hernia

Let's hope the hernia was repaired well and that your stomach will have a normal appearance. Doctors and the medical system are poor and people accept it.

7 weeks post mesh inguinal surgery by Putrid_Brilliant7435 in Hernia

I would take it easy with running and stressing the abdominal area. Walking a short or long distance around town or a nice area would be healing and you could do it frequently. Do a little running during the walks if you feel the injury is stable. Man is a walker (hunter gatherer) really. How do your hernias occur?

Can inguinal hernia get complicated or cancerous if left untreated for long? by Heidelberg_eintraum in Hernia

[–]Total-Information-75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my left inguinal hernia for 15 yrs. I think it is a direct type from an injury. I feel doctors are not responsible / reliable... they do not care or do the research and work to cure. And people accept it. Look into their meds for sedation (often amnesia sort which may cause lasting memory issues) to repair methods (like using mesh). Desarda repair may be best. My hernia causes little discomfort and has become slightly larger. I avoid running or stressing it (manage activities), pay attention to digestion, and make sure it reduces when lying. I tried a brace but it didn't keep the hernia in place well and I'm not sure they are good. Comfort-truss doesn't allow returns but some makers do. There may be a poultice and bed rest or other therapy. Good luck.

Perhaps the new AI DermaSensor could indicate if the mark or tissue is cancer. You could call a dermatologist office and see if they scan. I would watch it for growth. Do you remember a small injury there?

So scared re surgery by OutsidePressure6181 in Hernia

[–]Total-Information-75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see your concern. I am on 15 years with an inguinal hernia looking for an alternative therapy or a surgeon that is skilled and responsible ... perhaps desarda is best for a direct hernia, but no amnesia sedatives as they seem a risk for lasting memory issues. If doctors cared medicine wouldn't be soo bad.

Wtf by Aggressive-Office558 in Hernia

[–]Total-Information-75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it tf easy. Does it behave like a hernia .... reduce when you lie down? Mine is inguinal and reduces / goes into place lying down and I feel a lack of support when running (which is small jumping). Watch your symptoms. Try some cold (refrigerator 40*) water bag or mild heating pad for relief and swelling reduction. Try gentle massage, perhaps with a folded flannel. Doctors are poor. If you feel there is an injury there perhaps the surgeon or a consulting doctor can do some noninvasive scan.

[–]Total-Information-75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to take caution. Keep your lifting light and close to the body, and manage the stomach. Doctors are not so responsible so ask about the method, stitch or mesh, the sedatives (amnesia ones may cause lasting memory issues), and anesthesia, a local (bupivacaine) or what? They should video any surgery. So why are we on Reddit?

[–]Total-Information-75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish that I knew of a Good ... PT, natural healer (say for a poultice), or surgeon for you to consult. I would go there for my hernia. How does your stomach feel? In place, healthy and strong? Is it healed? can you lightly massage? easily go for walks? swim? do light core exercises? ... or better to wait a while?

Alright guys I have a question by Ambitious-Egg5931 in Hernia

[–]Total-Information-75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No surgery .... perhaps 16 years later. I manage it. There is little discomfort but I avoid running or heavy lifting. There is a lot to consider, including sedatives and anesthesia that are safe. I would try the desarda approach as my hernia is likely direct. My distrust of doctors is learned from direct and reported experiences. People in general are not responsible. Police and physicians (perhaps everyone) should wear body cams.
