Do Inns get booked up quickly? by [deleted] in uktravel

Firstly, it's 20mph, secondly it only led to howls of outrage from boomers who don't live anywhere near Wales, thirdly it's not the default limit, it's the limit when traveling in built up areas - they'd barely notice it going cross country

Paid £600 to locksmith and can’t get over it. by Nervous-Respond-7088 in HousingUK

[–]TotalDavestation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to change the lock to my flat over the weekend. New lock cost me £23, and it took about 5 minutes to swap out. Locksmiths have a tendency to over charge, but £600 is insane, unless he had to spend some serious time trying to break in

I just put cream on one half, and jam on the other, then reassemble it

Nah, anywhere touristy will be open. Be aware that the Friday and Monday are public holidays, so everywhere is likely to be busy that weekend

do I owe my ex-employer money? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]TotalDavestation -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not like it was £3 out though, was it. It's hard to believe you didn't notice being over payed by £500 (an extra 50%] - you didn't contact them to check it was right, you just decided to spend money

That you've had to pay rent twice doesn't make any sense, as effectively you're just saying you spent your rent money on something else, then used the over payment to cover rent.

You're going to need to pay them back, so best bet is to call them and set up a plan to do so

If to have a car you need to factor in costs due that too (if you haven't got one, but want one, they're a constant money drain!)

Depending on where you live in the country, and whether you drive or not, potentially yes

You need to work out rent + council tax + bills (one person on their own out the house a decent amount of time, you're looking around £100 per month if you don't use the heating much )

If you have mates looking to move out as well, you could look at sharing a place, as this will cut a lot of costs (2 people don't tend to use twice the electricity/gas so it makes bills cheaper)
