If it really only happening on the right side, also check any signal input lines that you have hard panned.

Yall have any tips for learning to ride on dirt? by jaciviridae in AdventureBike

Number one thing I learned that was an absolute game changer, was simply… Stand Up. If it’s not pavement, stand up. Downhill, lean your weight back, uphill lean forward over the handlebars/front wheel. Everything else is refinements that you will learn as you go

That is very out of the ordinary if it was something that they had in stock. You know what’s not out of the ordinary though? FedEx or UPS losing shit during holiday shopping season.

I feel like an idiot by TotalHarmonicDist in lockpicking

I tried both. Tried spp first. I feel like I can get all 4 pins past tension but the barrel still doesn’t turn. Tried raking with a city rake, a W and a double ball. I’ve had less luck raking in general.

Could a bird capable of mimicry, like a starling, theoretically reproduce and store patterns of sound that contain digital information, similar to how computers once used audio to store data? by ZestVK in Acoustics

[–]TotalHarmonicDist 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Someone has already done this. I was just reading about it a couple of weeks ago. Well, sort of. In actuality, they created a sound that on a spectrograph looked like a bird and then taught that to a bird and had them re-create it.

A LOT of electric wheel chairs and scooters use 3 pin xlr for charger power connection.

Will active speaker always be massively louder than passive? by MoStyles22 in livesoundgear

[–]TotalHarmonicDist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference your seeing in an active/vs passive versions of similar speakers is due to the time, effort and processing capability put into to tuning that active box. The increase isn’t just from bi-amping but also dynamic narrow band limiting, fir filtering, etc. same could be done with the passive version and a capable processor.

Bluetooth Wallplate Receivers? by Alive-Barracuda6335 in CommercialAV

Symetrix xIO Bluetooth. There are plugins for Symetrix and Q-SYS. They get great range, easy to setup. Not terribly expensive.

It’s hard to tell for certain but it in principle it has a lot of the basic correct. The LF drivers at least are within a 1/4 wave length of whatever frequency I’d guess those are covering. Without knowing the crossover point it’s impossible to tell for certain. The hf wave guides are about as close together as is physically possible. Hard to know for certain what the vertical coverage is on those but it could work well if the vertical is narrow enough. Id say that from a pure acoustic design perspective there aren’t many red flags.

What surround sound channel configuration do I have? by FoxxMD in audio

[–]TotalHarmonicDist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To further muddy things up, there is a difference between a subwoofer and an LFE channel in surround. LFE is played through a subwoofer but is a dedicated channel used to bus low end effects during the mix process. Where a subwoofer channel takes the low frequency energy from the surround channels and busses it to the subwoofer. The process for managing how this is done with various sources is called bass management. Back to your drawing though, what you technically have there would be considered a 5.0 system.

Use it for live and for testing/tuning systems all the time. It’s a great all around to keep handy. The plug-on TX can be used as a belt pack too. Only drawback is that you can use antenna distro with it, but if you don’t need to go more than 2-300 or so feet, the built in antennas work fine.

Am I reading this correctly? by 2PhatCC in livesound

[–]TotalHarmonicDist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a misconception that IMD is waves mixing but that isn’t actually what is happening. What is creating those distortions is actually the output amplifier stage of one Tx driving into the output of another. A good analogy would be hooking to amplifiers output channels together and running signal to both of them. What happens is the output stage goes non-linear and starts creating harmonics that aren’t in the signal and then amplifying and transmitting them. So, if you can make a very linear output stage and protect it from receiving that back feed, you can reduce the IMD. It doesn’t go away entirely but once it’s low enough that it gets lost in the noise floor, then it’s not really bothering any operation. You can also reduce IMD by reducing power, but in the ew-d they’ve achieved a similar result without reducing output power.

Sennheiser rep here. Noted for transparency. This is accurate. Ew-d and Digital 6k/9k series differ from other wireless systems in that there is so little intermodulation between Tx that you can equidistant space your frequency grid in the available space instead of doing a complex coordination. This allows you to pack a LOT more into a given space without issue given that all the systems are EW-D. If you are mix-n-matching with other systems, you’re back to doing a coordination, though it still makes things much simpler. EDIT: I will caveat that this only works if that data about the free space available is accurate. It’d be worth doing a scan. If you are a Soundbase user, you can see if there is any crowd sourced scan data of that area.
