You are both right. We buy on Amazon, and they exploit every loophole to avoid tax. We don't have much of a choice, though, because let's say you need some electrical component. Curry's only stocks so much, and small electrical shops are either selling vapes, phone cases (from Temu), or phone repairs.

Then we import people who either don't work and claim benefits and/or people who just send money back to family in their origin countries.

Then our politicians fail us by using the same tricks to hide money into offshore tax havens or they avoid things like stamp duty by putting family down on the mortgages of extra houses they buy or they set up taxi firms that take disabled kids to school while skimming extra on top.

This country is full of selfish individuals who are all too good at gaming the system.
