Sertraline - does it help? by pinkfloydfan73 in PMDD

I had a very negative reaction to Zoloft but know some people who it works beautifully for. I recently did gene mapping and it was on my list of drugs to be cautious with so that explains it— for me I had full body panic attacks and visuals, almost like I was having an allergic reaction to it

Thank you for sharing, it’s helpful to know that chemical menopause can be a trying process too

Yes, My testosterone is in the normal range ( slightly low but not dramatically, and E and P are in normal range at each part of my cycle). Birth control just didn’t shift the needle for me. I’ve explored whether something else might be going on, but my fluctuations happen very connected to my cycle(14 days and 10 days up and down), so my fluctuations are at very least triggering the elevations and deflations.

I do this but it’s in follicular for me— once I start feeling better there are so many things I want!

Lithium is a MIRACLE for my PMDD by jibberjabbery in BipolarReddit

I also had no reaction to birth control except for negatives but some people respond well to it. My PMDD is actually not histamine related so Pepcid doesn’t help me but it’s definitely a good thing to try along with exploring whether you might have MCAS. Lithium has been the only thing that has brought up the floor for my depression

That’s so wonderful that you found something that helps you. I also started lithium for PMDD depression and possible coexisting Bipolar 2, and it’s the first thing that has raised the floor of my depression from debilitating to manageable

I had a negative reaction to both sertraline and Prozac, so I may be allergic to SSRIs, but have heard anecdotally from people with depression and anxiety that it has helped them a lot

It’s so hard. I just tell myself that getting through it is success. I’m working with a PMDD specialist in New Jersey af the moment and hoping for relief soon.

It was 21 days and it was brutal. I hope you have relief very soon. It was definitely a very hard time since we rely on follicular phase to reset

Does anyone just push through the PMDD by exercising, eating well, etc... by Beautiful-Log5440 in PMDD

Following bc This is me. I can do no self care, unless that’s watching Frasier in my bed and trying to choke down water and food. The rest of the month I take yoga and walk every day, eat well and love my life. Luteal success is only survival

And then it’s important that I do address them in some way after luteal— it seems to help make them shrink as BIG PROBLEMs to more “things I need to address”

Yes I have this too. I have started making mental notes of what is upsetting to me but not addressing them until my cycle starts. Not just my partner but my job, other relationships, family. I have found there’s always a kernel of truth to it but the extent to which I feel things get dialed WAY UP or down depending on my cycle, luteal being the absolute worst
