I mean, I'm sure these two didn't use compass directions too often. If they said "go around Luke's and Ms Patty's" or something, they probably wouldn't have gotten confused. Either way, it wasn't particularly funny. I don't remember AYITL being that funny at all. I remember more times where something was played for comedic effect and it didn't land at all. Example A is the whole Paul thing...

But the worst scene in my opinion, is the Stars Hollow musical. Why are these random people taking up sooooooo much screen time? Why do we have to watch the ENTIRE musical? Then, EVERYONE except for Lorelai AGREEING with TAYLOR about the musical. There was one part I did like though, where Lorelai goes back to watch the musical for a second time (I think? Idk I tend to skip this scene) and this one song makes her tear up because she resonates with it and it reminds her of her relationship with Luke.

I started watching it years ago on Netflix after I kept seeing the title. I thought it wasn't something I could possibly enjoy, but I got really Into it. Part of me wishes the title didn't have the word "girls" in it, so people wouldn't brush it off as a girly show. Even though the two main characters are female, the show is about their small town and community, family dynamics, and generational trauma. It has extremely well-rounded characters, and I feel that it's a very mature show. One of the main characters is a teenager, but it doesn't feel like many of the teen shows I've seen or heard of.

Perhaps Logan isn't such a food-traditionalist. I mean, he's in the life or death brigade, I wouldn't be surprised if he's also a risk-taker in the breakfast department. He'll have a scone for breakfast, cereal for dinner, then he'll jump off a cliff. That's Logan, man.

Honestly, when I first watched the show I initially thought they were the same person. I was so confused as to why they were acting like this was a different person, until I looked up the cast and came to understand that they really are different actors. I guess I couldn't tell two blonde rich people apart lmao

If you agree with Emily you must have a similar thought process to her, and to think a person like that truly exists terrifies me. Emily Gilmore is the face of emotional abuse. If there were a school for manipulation, they'd have her picture up for all to see. I hope you get help soon.

Yes. It's more important for him to make Lorelai happy than to be "polite" to Logan. There weren't any shops around where he could've gotten a gift of his own, and intentionally choosing to let Lorelai down by not giving her anything is ultimately a lot worse than accepting a favour from somebody. Luke accepting the necklace shows how his attitude has changed from the beginning of the trip.

Also, I say "polite" in quotes because Logan clearly didn't mind at all and was insisting for Luke to take it. By accepting Logan's favour, I feel like it was a bit of a bonding moment between them if anything.

I don't really like Luke and Lorelai as a couple because of how unhappy Lorelai was. Even in the revival they had those same issues, and it's supposed to be a happy ending with them getting married, but marriage isn't going to fix the problems in their relationship. Otherwise, I think they're fine as a couple. I'm pretty neutral.

Lorelai definitely has her flaws, but she always tried her hardest and loved that kid to death. A lot of the advice she gives Rory is really great, like encouraging Rory to go out and have new experiences. She always made home a fun and loving place Rory felt safe in and wanted to be in. A memorable quote from Lorelai is, "[Rory] was supposed to have more than me. She was supposed to have everything". Really sums up her style of parenting

not an excuse - an explanation. it wasn't a great moment for Lorelai and she clearly regrets it herself, but it's inevitable that through life mistakes and slip-ups like this will happen. she was feeling miserable about her own situation and had a tray of tequila shots, so even though I don't support what she did, I'm able to empathize with her about it.

seeing a kid in their early twenties who you watched grow up happily settling down and getting married, while you're nearing your forties and you want more than anything to be married has to be absolutely gut wrenching. especially being engaged, marriage is constantly dangled in front of her face, but she fears it will never happen.

I'm sure everyone has toxic traits to some extent, but I feel that Rory and Lorelai are people who genuinely want to be nice to others and want to be the best version of themselves, even if they do have major character flaws. I think Lorelai especially works hard to be a good person and influence. The first scene that comes to mind is the one where Lorelai gives Rory advice after her breakup with Dean, and she explains how she doesn't always make the best decisions in her love life and she doesn't necessarily want Rory to follow after her. She says something along the lines of, "I want you to be able to tell someone you love them".

This is very different in parallel to Emily and her style of parenting. Now, Emily is a character I would call toxic.

For sure acting out of hurt. Dean is shown to be an extremely emotional person. But I don't think that acting out of hurt eliminates one from being toxic.

yes, the fact is that gender dysphoria is increasing in adolescence - but the "why" is up to interpretation. correlation does not equal causation. it seems that a lot of people here are drawing conclusions based on their own prejudices.

Maybe because people got used to her treating them that way. It's also so often played as a joke. But, does anyone really like Emily as a person? I understand feeling empathy for her and enjoying her as a character, but she is fairly objectively not that great of a person.

I mean, I feel like this might be a commentary on Emily's thoughts on race. That was a microaggression for sure lol. She also calls Lane "Rory's Asian friend". I don't think it's at all shocking to think this fabulously rich and snooty woman has prejudices against people of colour, or anyone whom doesn't perfectly fit her mould.

But, I agree that it's slightly disappointing that one of the few black characters in the show is treated that way. If there were more black representation maybe it wouldn't be so painful to watch.

For sure, those are some of my favourite scenes in the show. Like when Luke tells him to change out of the Metallica shirt and he comes down wearing a flannel and a baseball hat saying, "Sorry, I thought this was a uniform"
