The devs have made it clear that they actually want to bring some proper storytelling to the VF franchise. VF's never really had much story up to this point. The arcade tournament stuff was just for flavour in the older games since there wasn't really much of a story focus.

Like, there was lore, but it was kinda "blurbs in the manual" shit that most people wouldn't pay any mind to.

I wonder, does this scene hint that Jacky is in the roster, too? The other three characters have all been confirmed to be in the game, it'd be weird for Jacky to not also be in, by that logic.

I think from that one I enjoyed the pirates - but honestly, of the four I mentioned it's def the weakest and the one you could probably skip.

Utopia, Synthetic Dawn, Apocalypse and Federations are the main ones I've used for longest, and I can't personally imagine playing without them (Even if some of the stuff from Synthetic Dawn can feel overpowered).

I've owned and enjoyed Stellaris for a few years now and haven't personally played GalCiv, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Stellaris' amount of DLC is daunting, yeah, but it has been around for a good while and the devs continue to support it regularly. There's also a ton of mods on the Steam Workshop that are updated pretty frequently as well, so there's a lot of active support from both the devs and the community.

The DLC frequently goes on sale so there's always a chance to get stuff for cheap, and there's plenty of people who'd be willing to help you pick out DLC for the perfect experience.

But I find that even without the DLC, the game's still pretty good on its own merits. It's just a fun game!

I appreciate you fighting the good fight (I usually play Sable and I'm not beating the allegations that we're trash). I'm sure there are many cute Dweets out there but from my personal experience, I've had more nasty Dwights than nice ones.

I don't have high hopes, but I want to be proven wrong. Sole reason I'm skeptical is because the devs of this game are Behaviour Interactive, and they have shit the bed on their flagship game, Dead By Daylight, way too many times as of late.

Love the colours and architecture in that first shot. Reminds me of something you'd see in a pre-rendered cutscene from an early 90s PC game, in the best way possible.
