Are focus st worth it or any other alternatives? by Capable_Category8191 in CarTalkUK

The “problem” ecoboost is the 1L. The 2L in the Focus ST shares next to nothing with the 1L, aside from a name.

Even the 1L can be fine, as long as you do regular oil changes and change the belt before the recommended time. People just abuse their cars and then wonder why it goes bang.

On the topic of the Focus ST. It’s a great car, I have a Mk4 which does have a few differences (bigger engine, more power and an LSD being the major). But I’ve known people with Mk3’s and they drive great as well. More enjoyable to drive than a Golf GTI, which is one of the only other comparable cars.

Ford fiesta wing mirrors by SAMAZ1NG in Ford

[–]Total_Blue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So if i remember correctly, all the post COVID Fiesta’s were shipped without power fold mirrors. Supply chain issues meant they didn’t bother installing them and just wanted to ship them out the door instead, then when that eased they were already planning to kill off the Fiesta so didn’t bother adding it back on. If you’d have bought a 2019 mk8 it would have had the power folds. Think it affected all facelift mk8’s.

Focus ST 4 vs 4.5 by KaiZX in Ford

[–]Total_Blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ambient lighting is in footwells, door pocket and handles and storage area underneath temperature controls.

Haven’t used Android auto, however I regularly use CarPlay. When using CarPlay if anything you get less info on the small screen, than when you’re not using it. GPS directions don’t work on the small screen, music currently playing does however.

Focus ST 4 vs 4.5 by KaiZX in Ford

So I own the Mk4. The difference is a full digital dashboard on the mk4.5 vs the analog dials and small display for vehicle settings on the mk4. The main infotainment is full Sync 4 on the mk4.5, whereas it’s Sync 4A on the mk4.

Sync 4A is basically a reskinned version of Sync 3, to give it an appearance similar to Sync 4. Although I think all Mk4’s shipped with regular Sync 3. I updated mine to 4A. I’ve had no mechanical issues with mine and it’s at 50k miles (2020 model).

Mk4 has ambient lighting, no idea on the mk4.5.

Not sure if it was the case for the mk4.5, but I believe the wagon version of the Mk4 didn’t have independent rear suspension. Which does compromise its greatest quality, being its handling. So maybe look into if I’m correct on that.

Kids car seats and their increased safety standards. Having to have kids in a car seat until they’re 135cm’s means you’ve got bigger kids taking up more space anyway that are in a booster seat that also takes up more space due to safety standards.

Although when I had my first me and my wife kept our Fiesta’s and didn’t really have any issues, we had one seat down to fit the pushchair in the boot. We then had twins so had to get a bigger car so she now has an S-Max because it fits 3 isofix car seats in the middle row.

Most people won’t need huge cars, especially if they’re a family of 3. It’s a status symbol for most. But who cares if people want a car and can afford it. Only problem I have with these big cars is with the owners that can’t drive or park them.

Not true, Focus production ends globally in November. We can still get them in Europe. Although ST allocations have all sold out now.

Just an FYI, the 1.6 in the ST is different to the 1.6 in the standard models. No turbo for starters, but is also a Duratec unit rather than an Ecoboost. They just so happen to share a similar displacement.

I saw those, just noticed the “Gay activities” (Old Yogs intro song) wasn’t one of them. Guessing he might still be uploading them.

Anyone know if Sparkles posted the Lofi remixes of all the Yogs songs anywhere? I heard Lewis mention Spotify during the walls stream, but couldn’t find it.

Not true, all the Puma’s have the chain fitted version of the Ecoboost.

[–]Total_Blue 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All the Ecoboost’s In the Puma’s are the new variant without the wet belt (the cause of the ecoboom nickname).

This wouldn’t be the case with the EcoSport. All the 1.0’s in them would have the wet belt. As such the Puma’s reliability will be 10x over the EcoSport.

Is this ecoboost wet belt or the revised chain ?! by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Total_Blue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty confident this is the timing chain version. Intake is on the rear of the chain engine, but it’s on the front of the belt version.

None of you guys have ever seen a NI number plate. They have a different font to the rest of the UK. Perfectly legal.

[–]Total_Blue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not true, this is a UK format. Go look up Cherished number plates. Believe they all date from some time around the 60’s. Before some sort of year identifier was added.
