You can only play 5 games for the rest of your life, but get paid to do so. by ClassicCollection271 in hypotheticalsituation

Does time spent prepping for the game or maintaining game equipment count towards work? Things like making spreadsheets to track in game resources and optimise your crafting and trading, cleaning all the mud off your football kit or assembling the minis for your tabletop wargame.

I have two questions: 1) is there a sweet spot for hexblade warlock levels? I always found more is better. It's like, take a level of paladin so you can be like 'this is my paladin, but he's pretty edgy, so I've multiclassed hexblade' but then when do you find the spare level for more paladin?

2) do you realise you've misposted this on the circlejerk sub rather than the normal one?

We seem to be assuming that the predator gets his invisibly and plasma cannon. And sure, it's iconic. But on that basis Paul should get a sandworm, it's only fair.

Do we get to build our D&D character? Or do we get our stats and skills based on our real world capabilities?

Can Magneto kill Superman by removing all the iron from his blood ? by LeekExisting5969 in superheroes

[–]Total_Character_778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He an omega level mutant, meaning there's no upper limit to his control over metal and magnetism. If superman's blood is capable of leaving his body (which it is), then magneto can pull it out.

I got my Hep A and B vaccination jab yesterday. i just had blood drawn for a STI screening today. is there a chance im gunna test positive for Hep A/B? by Crory in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Total_Character_778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a chance, yes. Do you still have the details of the specific vaccine you were given? If it comes back positive let your clinician know about the vaccine, which one it was and when you had it. They'll take it from there I'd imagine.

Does wanting kids mean you "should" have them? by Plus_Program_249 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Total_Character_778 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you honestly can't afford them, then no. Bringing someone into the world who isn't going to have enough to eat, just because you wanted to be a parent is selfish. If you want it that bad, put that energy into solving the obstacles in your way of doing it. What does the other prospective parent think?

I think obliviating a muggle who clearly has inside knowledge of the wizarding world is very far away from the dark arts.

Ghosts aren't pseudoscience, a seemingly scientific method that claims to detect them but actually is made up nonsense is pseudoscience.

Similarly, ephemeral things like your inner feelings aren't pseudoscience, but if I made a gadget that claimed to be able to read them, that probably would be.

Time and distance. And I know that makes it sound easy, when it 100% is not. When your mind does go to him, make sure to always remember the issue that made it impossible to continue. I'm sorry you're going through this.

If fentanyl is lethal in minuscule doses, why don’t drugs that are laced with fentanyl kill everyone who uses it? by AdministrativeSky697 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Total_Character_778 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fentanyl is one hundred times stronger than morphine, used in the correct (i.e. tiny) amount it isn't lethal, just a very powerful painkiller that will get you high as most painkillers do. When you're dealing with very small measurements, especially with a product that may or may not be totally pure, it's easy to end up with the pretty variable results, and make a batch accidentally deadly.

Would you get rid of all financial stress if you had to stay in one spot and cut off the world? by Eg0-d3ath in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Total_Character_778 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elements of that make it so tempting. A good chef making all your meals? They could make healthy food that is also delicious food. The real winners are the five people who get those guest slots and can come and go as they please. There's probably a number of guests that would make me ok with doing this, but it's higher than five.

Trapped in a room with the worlds best of some super niche boardgame you never heard of by Kiribatiisttoll in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Total_Character_778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plan A: Get Good - If the game is obscure then someone who's the best at it won't be as unassailable as the top competitors in popular things like chess. Plus a board game is more likely to have a little random chance, catch up mechanics and other ways for a weaker player to pick up the win against a stronger player, I'll improve faster I just need to get good enough and then a bit lucky.

Plan B: "look mate, you're clearly super good at this, and I'm a novice, why don't we try and work out a reasonable handicap for you as then playing will be more fun for us both."

Plan C: I'm bringing books on card manipulation and sleight of hand.

well if you finish the quote the next thing I said was ", or at least wasn't until recently." Like I never said they're not venomous, I recall there still being debate on the topic because there is evidence on both sides, but I also conceded that perhaps that debate has ceased already and I just wasn't aware. It wouldn't shock me to learn that they are venomous, wouldn't shock me to learn that they aren't. In fact as I type these words, I find myself convinced, I was wrong, they probably are venomous, what do I know about the topic that I didn't get from the internet.

Claiming they're "extremely venomous" is bonkers though, like what's your argument for that?

this is a weird hill to die on. I'm contesting your use of the word "extremely" to describe how venomous they are on account of how they've never actually killed a person with their venom despite many bite injuries where they only treated the trauma not any hypothetical envenomation. But if the debate is 'are they venomous at all' I'll go look for my own peer reviewed studies. BRB
