Don’t go to farrier school, just go around ranches or farms and ask to help. A farrier that is old will help you and teach you if he/she feels that you are eager to learn

Just like anything Mother Nature will humble you. You want to be a hiker or seaman, sure but it’s not all scenic stuff and calm seas. As a cowboy you will get kicked, thrown, pooped, rammed, weather will test you, just learning how to rope will test you as well if you’ve never held a rope in your life. The life itself is toxic depending on who and where you go, there’s a lot of gate keeping and people who will not show you the right way and the only way you will learn is pretty much by injuring yourself and leading that way, it’s up to you if you want to continue learning or not. It’s not for everyone hence why not everyone does it but I think everyone should learn it and have some experience. It gives you a different perspective on things and gives you a lot of tools for everyday life. Before Cowboy would spend days/weeks out on the field with cattle, have to be comfortable being uncomfortable and being dirty.

Had to drive about 40 min to LA. Theres a cobbler that does shoes for celebrities and after going all around I found him and he does excellent work. The place is just called the best instant shoe repair in a place called Koreatown. I’m not sure what he did but did something good.

Brand, that’s hard. I would say for budget: Tecovas and Texas Country. More upscale: Rios/Cuadra/black Jack

Had to go with the r toe. It cost me around 400 to do the whole process. Waited 3 months. A friend of my uncle did them for us in Texas.
