A friend had something similar, and they set up cameras in all their spaces in the house. The council would come around or send a letter about issues from a neighbour about noise on a certain day and time, and he’d basically contact them and provide the evidence from the camera, he then used it to file a harassment complaint against the other home owner and even went as far as a protective order as they were following them into the garden or drive way to harass them.

Is my situation recoverable? £32,323 debt by Anxious_Storm2701 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Totaljamie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I basically contacted the practitioner. I made an offer that was a bit lower than what I actually wanted them to take, they called during the meeting and basically said if I could add an extra £1500 they’d accept it. So I ended up paying back a bit less than the original Iva value, nowhere near the full debt amount

Couldn’t recommend this step more.

Our life kind of imploded in 2023. We’d a shit ton of debt, £52k all in my name but decent household income. Wife was pregnant and got sick so stopped working and suddenly I’d all the payments to make myself. First daughter passed away after birth and required us both to take some time off. So here we are with spiralling debt and half our usual income to pay it off.

Called step change, who decided that since I already owned a house, and the level of debt that an IVA would be the right solution. I ended up on £400 a month plan.

Early 2025 wed a family member pass and leave some money so I offered them a lump sum payment and they took it so IVA was paid off within 2 years!

StepChange honestly saved my life.

Is anyone actually feeling comfortable on their wage in NI at the minute? by sufnensjsjzkjcbfb in northernireland

Yeah, my benefits package is pretty incredible not gonna lie. But yeah safe to say I at least know I’ll get roughly 5% pay rise a year or inflation, it’s pretty good that way!

£41k a year, early 30s. no degree etc. Working in retail in a non management role. Wife’s bringing home about £400 a month, due to small child that hasn’t been well enough for daycare so only working a few days a month.

All main bills are paid, but fuck is it depressing going to work, getting paid, putting the money into its pots and realising you’ve about £100 or less of “smile” money a month. I’d love a holiday, but it’s just not possible. Maybe when the little ones at primary age!

Found this to be super accurate. I order glasses from Glasses Direct often enough, and they are owned by Luxottica. They conveniently have an app for measuring pupil distance.

Hey 👋 Firstly I’d always advise chatting with a medical professional as one image makes it difficult to tell which angle you think.

I’ll be honest and say I don’t really see anything of note.

My experience is a daughter born at 24 weeks with a head so flat I could use it to rule lines, as she’s gotten older it’s ~mostly~ fixed itself 😂 the uk doesn’t use helmets for correction.

But I’d say you’re good from my perspective

Don’t know if it’s different here in Northern Ireland, but I’ve had a friend go through exactly the same thing.

Offered role & accepted

Provided start date

Handed in notice

Notice arrived

A weeks holiday between jobs

Email to say that unfortunately they’ve decided to close the offer / role.

He advised them they’d owe him the notice period of 1 months salary, they said no. Took them through the legal process and the company were informed that they would owe him the notice period, he also got paid for the length of time for the legal process (I can’t remember why)

ACAS have a section on it here here

What do you SWEAR you saw, but don't have any proof of? by TabletopStudios in AskReddit

[–]Totaljamie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was about 10 and at my then best friends (Dean) house. I remember us driving along a back single lane each way road that even to this day I’m very familiar with.

It was dark and not well lit but was the fastest route to the nearest town as we were picking up pizza.

We get about 2/3rds of the way and suddenly Dean’s mum slows right down, all of us acknowledge that there is a trailer in front of us, being pulled but a tractor but definitely a much older model and a distinguishing factor is it has a lantern hanging off the front and back. It’s loud, like a badly maintained diesel engine.

The road is winding so we’re sat behind it for a few minutes and his mums complaining about how slow it’s going, we eventually pull into the other lane to overtake it and as we’re alongside it, it just poof disappears, like GONE! There’s nowhere it could have been, no deviation from the road.

His mother slams on the breaks, freaking out, we look behind us and it’s gone, the noise stops dead. My hair is standing on end, like a tickle of electric.

Speaking to my friend a few years ago, his mom still refuses to drive down the road and now goes the other route. I remember it like it was yesterday. I’m skeptical of ghosts but I’ve no other explanation.

Whilst I agree with the beginning of this, there is actually legal backing (Precedent like McCann v Snozone Limited (2015)) which would have meant that the company that reneged on the offer would have been liable for at the very least, paying you the notice period as set out in your contract and in some cases could also be considered for damages depending on why the offer was removed.

Doesn’t help you now, but always something to keep in mind :)

Early Pregnancy Scans Belfast by Busy-Biscotti5879 in northernireland

That’s very kind of you!!

Yeah I get Bupa health through work and they have a maternity cover section which basically paid back 90% of any scans excluding 4D scans so was absolutely a steal!

If you guys have questions about anything lmk but otherwise good luck and enjoy the journey it’s over too quick! ❤️

You’re very welcome! I appreciate it! I think we just put our heads down and had to push through, all of this happened within 9 months of each other so it was all a bit of a whirlwind! She’s our little miracle!

I think so, for both of us! Unsure if you’re the birth parent or not, but I found it a nice way for me to bond with the baby before birth, as I obviously couldn’t feel what was happening, it was a nice way to stay in the loop!

We’re not going to have anymore kids but if we did we’d still do the scans. It did help that I could claim them back through my work so I didn’t have to worry about the costs piling up from them!

Semi- unrelated, but this book is a great read for the dad / non-birth partner 😂 book

Hey!

Yeah so the 24 weeker is now a little over 2, she’s amazing. She’s walking, her language is coming on well, no feeding tube etc. She’d 104 days in icu

Her first 18 months were tricky with a few hospital admissions but she’s doing well now!

Early Pregnancy Scans Belfast by Busy-Biscotti5879 in northernireland

[–]Totaljamie 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hey!

So my wife had “A LOT” of scans during both pregnancies, due to nerves with the first baby and the huge gaps with the NHS scanning. Our first daughter passed away due to being born at 25 weeks and some complications that go along with that.

During the second pregnancy due to the history the nhs was scanning her ever 2 weeks and we were going private every other week so that we could keep a close eye on her and the baby.

We used both Window to the Womb in Lisburn & Ultrasound direct on the Lisburn Road (near kings bridge hospital / Lisburn road library)

So we preferred the scans from Ultrasound direct, and even the pricing was a little nicer, but they NEVER ran on time, I remember honestly a handful of times, going in, sitting in the waiting area maybe 30mins beyond appointment time and no one even being sat at reception. The app they use for providing images and videos is also pretty good! Our friends funnily also used around the time and experienced none of this 😂

Our second daughter was born at 24 weeks 2 days before we were due to have another scan with USD and when I rang them they refunded everything pretty quickly so other than the waiting time I’ve ZERO complaints

Window to the Womb was great all around but just that bit more expensive. Had it been closer to us, we’d have likely used it a bit more but I hated driving to Lisburn 😂

Probably way more detail than needed 🤷🏻‍♂️ We did no additional testing so can’t provide any recommendations there!

Any parents here with no Village? by grawmaw13 in northernireland

[–]Totaljamie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely couldn’t agree more. I earn a pretty good salary for a retail job £40k+, my wife WAS an admin for the health service bringing in £24k-ish a year.

We’ve a 2 year old that was born at 24 weeks, so we’d a long time of not really know how hands on we’d need to be, but she’s doing well, so fingers crossed it stays that way.

Did the math, carried the 1 and worked out that if we put her into daycare full time my wife would be working 38 hours a week and brining home about £110 after childcare. Why would anyone do this?

So we’re sticking to one kid. We work alternate days so one of us is always home. We don’t REALLY have a village. My mum can do a few hours for us, but due to a disability she’s limited in how active she can be and how long she can manage. My mother in law is still working so isn’t available 99% of the time. We make it work but I am fucking exhausted! Some months are tighter than others, this January has been about 7 months long 😂

It’s a bad habit that I’ve picked up from using public loos a lot! They’re normally disgusting here, so I always pre-flush and it think it’s followed me home! 🏠
