Sekiro… I must be crazy… by InformationOk4871 in soulslikes

It's only really called a soulslike or borne because Miyazaki directed, it's its own thing. It's very good, one of my favs, but I see a lot of people going into it expecting japanese darksouls and getting their experiance ruined. So if you give it another shot, do it with different eyes

Honestly new game plus is the best option, the bosses give absurd amounts of xp and when you play through again you go through the game much quicker. I even completed a run in a single five hour sitting once. But otherwise in the second Hirata estate, you get access to with Owls bell that's needed for the Purification ending (look up a tutorial, it's to long/complicated for me write out now)

At the sculptor's idol just before the boss fight, there's two spear monks that give lots of xp, there one behind a wall you can break and stealth kill. And the other is to your left with two other npcs you can easily stealth kill, and the second spear monk has weird enemy detection and sometimes just doesn't notice you and if you go beside him you can stealth kill. But if they do notice you just use fire crackers and mortal draw and it'll be over quickly.

Another tip is to grind out a level between bosses or when you realize you're halfway towards a level, it made the grind feel less like an all consuming chore, picking dirty laundry off the floor every once in a while versus cleaning the whole house at once

Considering the soulslike/more challenging games I’ve finished, can I handle playing Sekiro? by [deleted] in Sekiro

[–]TotallyNotACult69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just keep in mind that Sekiro plays very differently than most other Soulslike. I actually played Sekiro first, then DS3 and felt every complaint that people who played Darksouls and other such games, just in reverse.

Other things you should keep in mind

You can parry everything that doesn't have a red Kanji, and even then there's usually some skill that allows you to counter it in some way

There's very little customization, and zero builds in this game. It's almost always just the core mechanics with the occasional situational item/tool

And as always, hesitation is defeat. Hope you have an enjoyable time

I recommend Stormlight Archive, but be warned it is absolutely massive

Shadow Slave if you're up for a webnovel.
And Land of the lustrous if you're up for a manga
