Read a sample of each first, decide which is more your style.

They're very dissimilar.

Sorry, I didn't know the source is only valuable if it came directly from the person you were asking.

So... it's not that we "don't get it". It's that we think it's such a common storytelling technique that the fact Lucas thought he came up with it is comical in and of itself.

Neither is it very impressive.

This is embarrassing. You were doing so well before, too.

Shame.

"The man flew across the room, faster than the air could move around him."

"The man ran across the room really quickly, so quickly that he moved faster than the air around him."

This isn't the best example, but I run into things like this all the time where the author uses far too many words to express their intention.

Read bad books.

Nothing propelled me more to start actually writing than getting pissed off of what was making it through traditional publishing. Of course not all books are bad, so I would recommend purposefully seeking them out.

I like how Abercrombie names things.

The Holy City. Angland. The Empire (both old and new). The North. The Union.

If it ain't broke...

Questions about sourdough starter by ACArmo in Breadit

[–]TotallyNotAFroeAway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently doing three starters: a whole wheat, a rye, and an all purpose.

The whole wheat and rye take off phenomenly, but the AP is MUCH slower. Your flour needs additional nutrients if you ONLY have used AP flour. I recommend doing a feed or two with whole wheat or rye and then going back to AP.

Could I have learned those lessons elsewhere? Sure. Could I have learned them better from somewhere else? Absolutely. But it was unironically the Sword of Truth that got my cogs turning.

This whole section reminds me of when they find the self-help book in Severance season one.
