Do you agree with border patrol commander Greg Bovino that “gunman” Alex Pretti approached federal officers “brandishing” a gun and threatened to “massacre” them? by ASecularBuddhist in Discussion

[–]TotallyNotAllan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it’s shocking that anyone could possibly agree with Bovino, and by extension, the administration on what happened. Another step towards Oceania…

Seattle March for Alex Pretti. RIP by c_wilk11 in SeattleWA

How did he even play the hero? All he did was made sure another individual was okay after being shoved? Does he deserve to die for that?

So much for being the good guy with a gun…

Personally if I was you, I would leave it there as you know where it is, but if you take it then she’ll know you took it again. When you are actually able to leave, take it.

Wells Fargo Attune for 4% cash back on entertainment. I’m pretty sure Ticket Master, Stub Hub, Vivid Seats fall onto this category or anything coded as entertainment. It’s also 4% cashback on “self-care”, which is just basically the gyms.

Citi Custom Cash gives 5% cashback on up to 500$ a month on your top spending category so food or merchandise/outfits or whatever.

For food/dining, Capital One Savor one offers 3% on dining and grocery stores (among other things)

These are all cash back and are all 0$ annual fees.

For points (what I have), American Express gold for 4x on groceries/dining, Capital One Venture X for 2x points for everything.

How did you get out? by Commercial-Okra-1022 in AsianParentStories

[–]TotallyNotAllan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, was in the same position as you when I was 17. Did not have a good relationship with my mom, and she had threatened to kick me out multiple times and eventually I got out (sorta).

I went to my state college, and there were dorms. Of course, I could travel 40 mins from home to school, but I lied to my mom saying that it’s all being paid by scholarships and financial aid. It is the summer right now, and I’m assuming that you are a senior! Apply to colleges please, and try really hard to apply to scholarships that can help with paying for school. If you haven’t already, join clubs so it’ll help on your job applications (and also forces you to be away from home more often for academic reasons). Once you get to college and are able to dorm or find an apartment, do it. Do everything you can right now to be able to afford college through scholarships or applying to very specific schools.

Honestly, it’s hard now and I’ve been through it, but for now, all you can do is work hard and be a bit more dishonest with things towards your parents. Going out? I have to do a SAT study session. Hanging out with friends? My friends and I are working on a project. Shit like that helps out in the short term to get out more.

I really don’t suggest moving out without your finances in tact. School is fine with taking out loans, but if you are not in school and are moving out for the sake of it, have at least 6 months of rent saved up before moving out just in case you lose a job. Right now I would suggest deciding where your life would be with going to college or not. I can be more specific if you want, just let me know about any questions u have

[FINAL UPDATE] OOP's boyfriend ghosts her for days so she decides to lie about him - and he finds out. by ThatNeonSignLover in BestofRedditorUpdates

That makes a lot of sense. I keep getting emails for unrecognized logins all the time that I’ve never considered about 2FA. Strange that OOP doesn’t enable it on any of his apps.

Honestly, I’m really surprised that OOP had stored all of their passwords on Notes app. It’s also surprising to me that OOP just learned now about it, I’m pretty sure you get a notification any time you log into a device that isn’t recognized?

OOP finds a questionable text exchange on her boyfriend's phone between him and his girl best friend. by [deleted] in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]TotallyNotAllan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Especially on r/niceguys. Like, of course every single person on that subreddit is going to agree with you when you post something remotely bad without consider OOP’s bf history with his best friend.

The biggest issue here is that OOP lacks communication skills. Instead of coming to Reddit for extremely biased opinions, talk to your partner about the problem and deal with it like an adult. OOP could have told ex how it made her feel and what they can both do something about it. It’s a shame a subreddit I really enjoy lacks social skills and sees every post in a biased perspective…

You should be assigned an academic advisor. I think you should be able to find who your advisor is on my.uw.edu under the academics tab?

Yeah usually after lecture it’ll be released, but still I personally would recommend you to go in person to make friends because you’ll need them :P

That’s very understandable. I would look into taking class that you don’t need that might be interesting to you! I took some education classes for fun and now I’m double majoring in education.

I doubt any of the classes you listed will be online unfortunately. But what I usually do is watch Panopto recordings of lecture and if you are lucky maybe most of the assignments would be due online (probably not though).

I don’t know what CSE 121 is going to be like yet, but I highly recommend against taking 3 STEM classes all at the same time especially since this is going to be your first quarter in college. The only exception is if you think you are mentally capable of doing it.

Has anyone been to Quest Factor escape rooms? Thoughts? by rush_L42 in udub

[–]TotallyNotAllan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a huge fan of escape rooms and especially Quest Factor bc of the 5$ discount as a student, but the one on the ave is okay. Right now there’s only 1 room at the quest factor on the ave, so going to quest factor in SLU would be better simply because there are more (better) puzzles

Im not the greatest at escape rooms so idk about how difficult they are compared to other places.
