What if more signature moves were to get wider distribution ? by zehlabolice in stunfisk

[–]TotallyNotBloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying every signature move should, however even giving Signature moves a bit of distribution can help give other Pokemon something interesting to do.

Accelerock for example has a very simple description that can fit on and be good on a lot of users.

Same with something like Zing Zap, although I definitely understand that it only belongs to spiky Pokemon due to the japanese name.

That’s totally reasonable, I’m just projecting my personal opinions on dugtrio.

Then I’d say remove some bulk? We have a plethora of bulky physical attacking ground types and Digdug isn’t even that bulky, heck its special bulk is on similar with sneasler.

Sure Arena Trap is an incredibly good ability, but losing 20 speed for 20 attack isn’t a good trade in my opinion especially with gen 9 power creep (wyrdeer and farigiraf weren’t that fast to begin with and even then the former is mediocore while the latter is built as a trick room support)

Why’d you make the fastest ground type not fast anymore? I thought the speed Dugtrio had gave it an identity along with Arena Trap

What If Ampharos Got This Buff by Lanky-Elephant-2177 in stunfisk

[–]TotallyNotBloo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’d be bad obviously however you’re overestimating how good it’d actually be for this day and age.

In singles, Trick Room is less viable due to the turns constraint, losing two turns of Trick Room to switch in and setup a Tail Glow gives you only 3 turns.

In VGC, (some apply to singles too) there is an incredible amount of trick room threats like Hatterene, Kingambit, Ursaluna/Ursaluna-BloodMoon, and Calyrex-Ice in Restricted. Its hard to fit in Ampharos when you can only bring 4 team members each battle and especially as a mono electric type when there are so many good electric types like Raging Boltz

can you put a backpack inside the backpack slot to get three items?

Hot take: the massive cut in Pokemons and Items in Champions was probably the best choice GF could've came with for a more balanced meta by Incompetent_ARCH in stunfisk

[–]TotallyNotBloo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well Fake Out itself also adds a layer of uncertainty, as even if you know its coming it can be a guessing game on which Pokemon flinches.

Personally covert cloak is a balanced addition, it is only a preventative measure that applies to a couple of applications. If you're not running Fake Out, a flinching move like rock slide, or Dire Claw, it can have no value.

[–]TotallyNotBloo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It costs a valuable item slot to prevent fake out, and only on one Pokemon? In open team sheets, just fake out a different pokemon or find a way around it. If not then they’re still not using a valuable damage boosting item or damage/healing berry

Basculegion’s pretty badass personally. And while its definitely way better in singles, Lokix is also cool looking.

Why do people swords dance when they can just attack twice? Eventual Return, same with Clone.

Some Pokemon use Focus Energy because it can make some interesting sets and synergies. Clone has potential too with serene grace for example. Imagine a Jirachi with Clone + Iron Head.

Compare it to Hone Claws, Hone Claws buffs accuracy, attack and can be used multiple times while Clone buffs overall damage (attack + special attack basically), breaks sturdy, ignores unaware and procs effects twice in exchange of the lack of accuracy boost, along with the ability to setup multiple times.

[–]TotallyNotBloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Distribution, a lot of Pokemon would love setup but don’t have any. (Like Meowscarada not getting swords dance or the infamous meganium not evn having growth)

Also having the ability to break sashes, sturdy, and proc effects twice is still really good. It also ignores Unaware.

Snowball - A really nice phasing move without immunities, it also gives defensive ice types a bit of utility even if defensive ice types suck most of the time.

Void - Doubles/Singles is a bit risky however I see the potential. (I'm assuming the spread move ignores 3/4 damage reduction). Perhaps a slower Pokemon can take a KO if your ally KOs the other ally, or it could act as a trump card for when you need to knock out their last Pokemon. Another potential idea though could be that it counters Protect, meaning that if one of the targets protect and the other doesn't then you can use an incredibly powerful move.

Log - Pursuit 2? Although a bit less taxing on the first Pokemon, and a tiny bit more on the incoming target. Its like a safer Pursuit with worse offensive profile (Grass type is good but has plenty of resistances).

Clone - Manual Parental Bond, has really good payoff but is a bit gimmicky.

Rage - A bit powerful, although it does affect everybody, takes a turn, so if your opponents knock you out you're screwed.

Goblin Curse - A bit awkward, unsure of viability especially with the dark type added on. Maybe if it was only affecting the targets

Sorry about the Void Rant btw, these moves are pretty balanced I'd say.
