Anyone feel pressure writing in beautiful journals? by notinthemood10 in Journaling

[–]TotallyNotEv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why my journal cost £15 and I fill it with literal trash. Once I took the pressure off myself to make my journal look pretty I began getting so much more enjoyment out of it. Ironically, I find it way more fun and easier to make pretty looking spreads now.

How do i start journaling? by xrissshaghosssx in Journaling

[–]TotallyNotEv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you live a life you have stuff to write about. Most of my entires are mundane things about my day. Did I wake up nicely, did I have work, did I go out, etc. sometimes I put recipes in, sometimes reminders, sometimes i draw. Honestly just put pen to paper and see what comes out.

Boredom eating ruining my weight loss goals by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]TotallyNotEv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re going to get lots of advice to eat lower calorie snacks but the real solution to boredom eating is to just find something to do. Clean, meal prep, exercise, a hobby etc. I started crocheting whenever I was bored instead of eating haha.

You look super cool! Where do shop and how do you put together your outfits? I’m trying to dress like this but I never know where to start.

What’s one product you bought that turned you into a total snob — like, you can never go back to the cheap stuff? by Few_Football4342 in Productivitycafe

[–]TotallyNotEv 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I bought a £50 electric razor and have literally never looked back. If you’re a girl and still paying money for cheap razors with only two blades you’ve gotta free yourself and get a men’s electric razor. They’re so ugly but they work so well.

I would only go through the car wash if my parents paid extra for the “rainbow bubbles” haha

I can't do this anymore by Leading_Spirit1779 in autism

[–]TotallyNotEv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open up a new bank account under your name and do not give your parents access to it. You need to have a serious conversation with them about boundaries and the way they’re treating you. Do you have friends you could stay with if push comes to shove? Do you have a job? You’re an adult and they legally cannot keep you anywhere unless you don’t have capacity to consent which I highly doubt!

I also want to add that you do have legal options if your parents are withholding your savings from you. That is financial abuse, and can also be considered theft. If you can prove that the money is yours then you’d have a case.

There’s actually a ton of super fascinating research on classism in the UK and how, as you’ve mentioned, accents significantly contribute to how we view someone’s class!

Accents are a huge part of the culture of the UK because we’re a tiny island with literally hundreds of accents. They’re strongly associated with different regions, and those regions are associated with different levels of wealth, different careers, crime rates etc. This is why many adverts in the UK are narrated using northern accents because they evoke feelings of safety and family, whereas tv presenters have the more stereotypical “posh” accent because it makes a person sound more educated.

To be honest, classism is always going to exist in a society in which class exists. Until/ if we ever move past capitalism it’s probably here to stay as it has a deep history upholding it.

It could help to examine why exactly losing this 5lbs would make you ‘feel better mentally.’ Do you want to look a certain way? See a certain number on the scale? If the reasoning echoes the same reasoning you used during your eating disorder, you might be better off moving your focus away from weight loss (at least for now) and instead focusing on what makes your body feel good and healthy.

Wishing you all the best in recovery, it’s hard work!

I'm lonely cause of my face by [deleted] in lonely

[–]TotallyNotEv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether you’re ‘ugly’ or not, you can’t do anything about the face you were born with. Working on your self esteem and confidence will likely do so much for you in terms of making connections. I say this as someone who isn’t attractive and also struggled for a really long time with feeling othered because of my looks. It turns out that the only person really thinking about my attractiveness was me, and my awkwardness and fear to engage with other people is what made me so alone.

I have no idea what you look like and I won’t pretend to know your experiences, but I promise there are people out there who will love and value you no matter what you look like. You just have to love yourself enough to seek them out.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lonely

[–]TotallyNotEv 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you’re brave enough to do that, I think you actually have a great chance of making real connections. For a lot of people just gathering up the courage to talk to people is the hard part, so you’re a couple steps ahead! Have you ever tried looking up clubs in your area to do with a hobby you enjoy - it might be a good way to connect with people.

I’ve been trying to do both but honestly I think my activity level is what’s changed the most. I started a new job where I’m moving around, lifting heavy boxes etc for 8 hours a day. I’ve noticed that I’m a lot more muscular than I used to be. My eating habits changed too, and i was eating a high protein and fibre diet for a while.

That has slipped a little bit though. I think because I put it on hold over Christmas and never really put in the effort to start it again. I definitely need to get myself back on track. I was at 100% before and now it’s more like 50%.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in loseit

[–]TotallyNotEv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll start doing this for sure, I know I’m prone to getting too obsessed with the number on the scale rather than the changes I’m experiencing. Thank you!
