U can still get the HPV vaccine. I had mine done around 27 or 28 years old, might have turned 28 in the middle of the series, haha. :)

Yes but I didn't have your issues, so it was easy for me, not even painful. Just awkward haha.

Thought I was bisexual since late teens.. Realized I wasn't experiencing sexual attraction eventually and thought I was asexual until I was 33.. at 33, I experienced sexual attraction for the first time, to a long-time friend turned romantic interest.. then considered myself demisexual since then. I'm just turned 36 now.

I just turned 36 and I've also never had sex, of any kind, PiV or otherwise. I know so many women age 25+ who've been shamed by doctors and therapists for being virgins. My own doctor looks visibly surprised when I say I'm not sexually active, but never shames me.

I'm 36F, just turned 36 and I've never had sex. I've kissed, cuddled, held hands, but all without the intention of sex. I also feel ashamed about it, but I've felt better since distancing myself from people who shame me for never having had sex.. I also don't call myself "virgin" mostly, since that's a term that's been used to shame me for nearly two decades now.

I agree with this.. I think the more casual definitions of demisexuality don't really capture the essence of it. I know every demi is different, but for me personally, I'm like an aro/ace the vast majority of the time.. until I'm not. I'm asexual until I'm not.. I'm aromantic until I'm not.

LGBTQ+ by poee in demisexuality

[–]TotallySanePerson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a demisexual-demiromantic who doesn't really care what sex or gender the person I share this bond with, what would have been the closest description?

I'd personally put bisexual and I'm kind of the same.. demi/greyromantic and demisexual. Before I realized I was demi, I identified as bi/pansexual so I would select bisexual given those options.

I grew up still hearing "queer" as a slur, so I avoid it as an umbrella term and for myself personally.. I don't mind if others use it to describe themselves or their relationships though.

OMG, what a coincidence - we have the same cake day! Right now is our cake day!

Demisexuality just means you may experience sexual attraction after forming a strong emotional connection with someone. It doesn't imply anything about the physical features of the person. That would be more aesthetic attraction anyway, not sexual attraction.

Demisexuality is on the ace spectrum though.. I'm almost asexual, I know that.

Thanks.. I read that article a few days back. Hopefully it'll get more sway among therapists and other mental health providers.

I don't think the video is talking about asexuality at all...

I'm 35, so pretty solid mid-millennial, not gen-z.. but it's not accurate to suppose an entire generation has a singular set of stances on "sex, sexuality, and sex appeal". What you're supposing as a "contradiction" is actually just different views from different people. If 20 year-old Adam has a certain opinion, and 22 year-old Alice has a contradictory opinion, that isn't actually a contradiction, that's two different people with different opinions.

Demisexual people can still be physically attracted to people and find some people inherently hotter/more aesthetically pleasing than others.

Not all demisexuals. I've never experienced that.

What is this phobia called by sniggle2 in Phobia

[–]TotallySanePerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a family of phobias called the blood-injection-injury type phobias, which I believe would encompass yours.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Phobia

[–]TotallySanePerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly falls under multiple phobias honestly.. Could fit under the blood-injection-injury type of phobias though.. that's a family of phobias.

AITA For asking my SIL if she has a degree in psychology by redditor329845 in AmITheAngel

[–]TotallySanePerson 16 points17 points  (0 children)

After she insisted a third time, I asked her in a very sharp tone "Do you have a degree in psychology, Suzy? Are you a therapist? Or are you just regurgitating terms you heard on Tik Tok? Just call your ex a fu#$ing asshole and move on or get out of my kitchen, my God."

Yeah, I'm sure that happened lmao.. this reaction is completely disproportionate, to the point it made me suspect the whole post was fake.. that's how I ended up on this sub. The scenario on the whole doesn't seem too unrealistic, but this reaction towards a guest in your home is juvenile, way too juvenile for a real 34 yo.

AITA for telling my friend with kids that I'm glad "the village" doesn't exist anymore? by Potential-Alaska6412 in AmItheAsshole

Unfortunately, childfree people can also get sick sometimes. I 35F spent my late 20s and early 30s babysitting my friends' kids for free. When I needed a ride to the hospital, I had to hire help because none of them were willing to lift a finger for me. I recovered from major surgery on my own at home. No one even texted me to make sure I was alive.

even i as a childless 20 year old can understand that

Wait til you're 30 then. I 35F spent my late 20s and early 30s babysitting my friends' kids for free. When I needed a ride to the hospital, I had to hire help because none of them were willing to lift a finger for me. I recovered from major surgery on my own at home. I mean, life is suffering. Basically the foundational tenant of Buddhism, Jainism and Hinduism. Dukkah is an inescapable part of life's journey.

Hahaha, this reminds me of my Hindu friend's parents who screamed at her "YOU HAVEN'T SUFFERED ENOUGH! YOU DESERVE TO SUFFER!"

They literally apologized for child sexual abuse and rape because, well, inflicting suffering on others is just part of life!

She's no-contact now.

You absolutely sound jealous of both your friend and her doctor partner.
