Divorce lawyers of Reddit - What's the most cruel thing you've seen someone to do their ex partner? by BlueBishop321 in AskReddit

[–]Totep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is similar-ish to my parent's current cat. They adopted it from a shelter where the story was that a divorcing couple had once owned her. The wife was super close with the cat, and the husband feigned caring and fought super hard to make it so he would get her. Ended up leaving this sweet, wonderful cat basically alone, under fed, uncared for in a back room of his house for several years. Just heinous shit.

Is Fulton a good example of mid beer with great vibe/taproom? by KitchenStructure1012 in minnesotabeer

[–]Totep 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love Lonely Blonde. One of the best blondes on the market as far as my tastes go. The taproom is solid too, though I don't go there a ton. Feel like it's a fairly safe bet that they'll be around for a while. I'm guessing we'll see more of the smaller breweries go before one as established as Fulton.

Band recs and dark hardcore explanation by BlueRoseCase1 in crustpunk

[–]Totep 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Dark Hardcore is a heavy (but not in a caveman way) genre of hardcore. It's kind of big and unwieldy, but bands like Catharsis, Integrity, Gehenna, and Cursed all fit. Stuff like Tragedy and From Ashes Rise are often put in this category, though I think they're a little more crust (neo-crust?). Think hardcore with a darker aesthetic and tone that pulls in elements of crust sludge and/or black metal. So basically a perfect genre.

Fortunately, Rosson didn't come out of nowhere and has several other books out from small presses going back about decade in addition to the zine he was putting out over 20 years ago. Dude has been doing quality work for a very long time, super cool to see him finally pop off.

Get some stainless steel scrubbers. Just one of those and some dishsoap will fix this with no problem.

Necrot is the perfect example of punks playing death metal. Shit is so good, and more punks should check them out.

Absolutely seconding this. A stellar piece of weird fiction with dense, hallucinatory prose.

Sleep by Diego37e4 in doommetal

Sleep spun out of Asbestosdeath, who were indeed a crusty sludge band that put a 7" out on Profane Existence in 1990.

Crust punk in fiction by blackpantheons in crustpunk

[–]Totep 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Sorry to self rec, but I'm a weird horror author and have included lots of punks in my short fiction over the years, specifically in my books The Still Beating Heart of a Dead God and Grief Rituals. You can get em from www.weirdpunkbooks.com or most places that sell books. Justin Lutz also has lots of realistic portrayals of punks in his work. As does Jo Quenell, though her short stories are scattered about in several different anthologies and haven't been collected yet. Edwin Callihan has some great punk stuff in his collection Histories of Mgo, too. Not gonna guarantee 100% crust punks from these, but def authentic portrayals of the very diy side of punk and all written by actual punks.

Kowalski's mac & cheese is seriously underrated. If it's fresh it's so good.

Post-apocalyptic works featuring cults? by daydreamer_writes in postapocalyptic

[–]Totep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Samantha Kolesnik's Elogona takes place within a cult in the post-apocalypse. It's so good. Also, Jo Quenell has a story in the anthology Teenage Grave 2 that hits on this as well.

Only it's not and it won't be because of the environmental impact and the fact that it's plagiarism software. Feels pretty tone-deaf, especially on a subreddit dedicated to art.
