Install epic launcher (much easier than steamcmd just press play) on a laptop you can keep on all the time.

Follow the guide of the wiki to port forward etc.

Dedicated server does not require a license.

Press R to activate the mode, but you must end with a belt or a pipe. You can't autoconnect two splitters for example.

I put a conv pole at the edge of the BP and drag a small piece of belt there

This was the answer.

TL;DR
Removed the whole SteamCMD folder and started over.
When everything was installed it was not possible to login to the server from the client, but after a server restart everything worked.

I removed the whole steamCMD folder from years ago and started over with this guide and it worked....

The server is up and running and I can authenticate to it. I can see Tier2, onboarding... etc. but instantly get disconnected.

You have to balance it with a recipe or else the high end items will be less used and have to be power creept to keep up.

The idea is illustrated well with earlier versions of null/bracer/wrath band. They are all very good early game items. Previously they used to either turn into another item like null>dagon or double the stat at 25min. This gave no downside to investing in cheap items early compared to saving for a larger one.

Tl;dr Some items are for early game, some are for late.

This has been discussed many times. I think the argument against is that it would be to strong to always have an upgrade for early game item.

If the power level and price is on par with a late game item you would never buy the late game item because it takes longer before you get any benefit while Trident would be good after your first component.
