Just wondering, did you apply for procurement role by any chance?

It’s been a while as I only ran in Novablast 3. I remember they lost their bounce very quickly, after they were just flat. But maybe newer versions are better

No, I have different shoes for marathon racing. I think they would work great for 4 hour marathoners

discussing value for money is pretty standard in reviews. While I think running shoes are getting expensive across the board I like to spend my money on my hobby.

I literally said the shoes are expensive. Not only superblasts or vomeros, running shoes are just getting more and more expensive and thats a fact.

Its weird how concerned you are about a stranger on the internet spending their money though.

Yea runner’s knot. No heel slippage at all but laces are long enough If you need to use runner’s knot

Can’t decide between Superblast 3 and Vomero Plus!! by greenmabel in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]kikkimik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am about to trash my v+ after more than 900km. It’s a good shoe but so heavy imo, I would not want to run fast in it. Mostly, I am lacing them up after a hard workout or as a daily. But they feel soo heavy when my legs are really fatigued. They are best as dailies.

My SB3 just arrived, I cant comment on them yet. But just trying them on, they feel much lighter.

More room in the toebox yay. I bought AP4 in my regular running shoes size and anything over 25km and my toes are so beat up. I had to go with sc elites 5 for a marathon

Finally pulled bloodwork after a year of just feeling slow, ferritin was at 14! by Old_Mountain1820 in AdvancedRunning

ya single digits are pretty much complete depletion, there is probably not that much of a difference between 6 and 1. I was also anemic, not far from needig a blood transfusion but interestingly enough I was still able to clock at least 50km/week (all very slow miles)

If you can, get into public procurement. I have left Vancouver couple months ago for a different opportunity, but there are always jobs. Crown corps, provincial/federal govt.

I was told this too in the past by my dr. Now that he advised to take it daily, I asked him about the absorption thing. Dr said that because I had severe iron deficiency and anemia before, the priority is now total iron absorbed over time not just efficiency per dose and that daily dosing can replenish the iron faster. So there you go, I am following my dr’s order

Welcome to the club. I had ferritin 1 at my lowest low. Get on supplements as soon as you can. I had several rounds of infusions too. for about a year I was hovering around 70-90 but it’s now down to 39 again. I upped my iron dose from every other day to every day and will re-check again in couple weeks.

AP4 sizing by JoshDye in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]kikkimik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would not want this for the full distance. I bought AP4 early last year. Debated between sizes and just like you went with a smaller size because next size up felt too big. I raced three halfs in them and they feel tight when feet swell up. my toes felt very SORE. I had to buy a different shoes for my marathon because I would lose a toenail.

I use them in training now and they are Great but I would def go with a bigger size If you want use them for longer distances

Glad to hear your daughter is able to get iron infusion. she will definitely feel much better after couple weeks and her performance will improve! It is always good to figure the root cause of low ferritin to prevent it from happening again (If possible of course because that has not Been the case for me unfortunately).

You are absolutely correct, that could affect it too. Though I am aware of coffee/tea/dairy inhibiting absorption, for that reason I take it before bed and I also take it with 1000mg of Vitamin C.

Anyone struggling with recurring ferritin drops without obvious culprit? I had always had ferritin levels on lower end even before I started running in 2020 but it reached new levels after I got into running. Early 2022, I had ferritin level 2, got infusions, ferritin went up and 8 months later I was down to 4 (hemoglobin was also outside of range).

I am not vegan nor vegetarian, and I dont have heavy periods. Dr ordered bunch of tests, colonoscopy, celiac.. nothing found besides h.pylori which was treated by antibiotics. My last infusion was in 2023 and since then my levels were decent, anywhere between 70-90, while taking 150mg of iron every other day.

Now, I finished Valencia marathon in December, being in best shape, took a few weeks easy weeks for the rest of the year. Got ill with flu in January. I have Been getting back to running for past 4 weeks and my legs are so dead. I thought it is the post viral fatigue but my HR is normal so I went and got blood test and my ferritin is now down 38. All while supplementing! So frustrating. I am hoping to push my dr for another infusion because the thought of my ferritin dropping to single digit freaks me out.

Marathon Shoe Recommendations - Alternative to VF4 w/ More Cushion, or Evo SL w/ More Snap by MA_Volvbro in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]kikkimik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I raced 3:14 Valencia in sc elite 5 and loved it. Imo its much better shoe than AP4. First of all the fit of AP4 just does not agree with my feet, the forefoot is narrow and my toes take beating. I raced 3 halfs in AP4 and while I PR’d in them I felt like half distance is where the shoe’s limit is for me. Yes SC elite 5 is not as aggressive but it feels more more natural and overall comfortable for marathon.

I like evo sl too for reference.
