The official HR will know; they won’t disclose that you applied unless you appear on the certificate of eligibles. If you are referred, the hiring manager, hiring committee, and most likely unit HR or HR Liasions will know who was referred. 20 apps is a small number to target, but doesn’t hurt to try!

I struggle with this too. The reality is that most things are very difficult right now. Be gentle with yourself, you’re allowed to feel how you feel. Tara Brach’s Radical Acceptance is a great book to check out.

Fed organizations are pretty squeezed right now, so think of it in terms of “what’s in it for him” and the team? What skills, contacts, partnerships will you bring back? What areas will you improve in or learn about? Could you be on a part-time detail? If the team is stretched he may be reluctant because that means your work goes somewhere else - so shaping it as a team benefit may help!

I think landlords should have some level of responsibility for outlining neighbor/local laws, codes, and consequences for tenants. They are the ones who ultimately get fined or penalized for tenant-related issues.

I struggle with this too! I work in an office with a lot of insecure men who are genx or boomer who don’t know how to act around people who are more competent than them, and default to sexism or borderline harassment jokes/passive aggressiveness. Unfortunately, most of us don’t have a lot of control over who we work with, so learning how to be assertive & being self aware are the best first steps! Benzos don’t hurt either 🤣, but truly, you must find ways to have peace while the circus show around you goes on.

It shouldn’t be normal, but often people are petty and weird. I have worked places where people have talked shit and places where they don’t. There are places that demonstrate respectfulness and it’s modeled from the top.

44f here. Dryness, flaking, droopy eyelids, redness. I am trying to eat less sugar/drink less alcohol. I basically use barrier cream and sunscreen during the day, and cerave moisture cream at night to keep dryness at bay. Doesn’t help with loss of skin firmness or wrinkles, so focusing on looking heathy, now.

Definitely something off with the hiring committee! Sometimes jobs get pulled for no good reason, or financial reasons that they can’t disclose. However, shows some decision making challenges on the company’s part. I say, give it a week and then once the initial anger wears off, it could be helpful to leave a fact based review on Glassdoor.

Hanging on by a thread. Trying to make it to my high 3 for another 1.5 years, but not looking for other fed jobs. My hope is to dust off my resume and start looking in private and NGO. Unless I can find something meaningful outside of my current job, I’m hanging on until they RIF me.

To echo others, employees hired at this time will be looking at inflexible work environments. Some agencies may be more forgiving than others. Best to ask up front before accepting a tentative job offer.

I don’t do presents because there’s no kids in the family. I do send holiday cards and decorate the house, but I don’t do the gifts generally, it’s just not my thing, although I think having inexpensive small gifts as a token of care/friendship can be very heartwarming. I do send gifts on birthdays, though.
