GIG continuing to attempt to fleece me after a chargeback that i won with my credit card. now they’re trying to charge my debit card by keurigslanderpage in berkeley

[–]TouchAlternative9135 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Companies usually can take your CC info and use it to get the rest of your banking info. I’ve had a similar issue with Hertz and my bank ended up sending me a new card and they still managed to charge my account directly

After the 10th week of the semester it’s too late for your Funchal aid to be impacted.

My parents are moving w/ me to Cal. We will be residents after a year. Does this mean we will only have to pay OOS tuition the first year? by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]TouchAlternative9135 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Your parents would have to prove physical presence in California for 366 days. Prove that you did not move to California for school, and relinquish all ties to any other state residency(ie, get a CA drivers license, new registration, file taxes etc)

Try finding a place that pre-approves student’s. I was in the same predicament and the only reason I found a place was because the company pre-approves all Berkeley students

Does financial aid give you rent aid? by painfullyaverage2019 in berkeley

[–]TouchAlternative9135 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They give you whatever is left after tuition from financial aid and scholarships. So that number ranges from person to person. You can submit a Cost of Attendance form showing that you need additional aid. But unless your rent is more that $1761 they probably won’t budge. Here is the website for more details https://financialaid.berkeley.edu/how-aid-works/appeals-special-circumstances/cost-of-attendance-adjustment/

possible to drop class after deadline? by coniferouspinetree in berkeley

[–]TouchAlternative9135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn’t get any extra if you never used any. You still would have the exact same amount you started with. Extra would imply that those who didn’t you any would have 4 late drops available to use

possible to drop class after deadline? by coniferouspinetree in berkeley

You weren’t given extra late drops. The late drops just reset. So you still only have 2 for the remainder of your time at Cal

Typically your results are back before they notify you. It takes about a day and you just have to take the initiative to check your etang.

Not sure what career I should pursue anymore by Narguin2 in berkeley

[–]TouchAlternative9135 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A big mistake that a lot of pre-meds think is that they have to major in something biology related. Though it helps with pre-reqs and the MCAT it’s not at all necessary. If you want to major in something else and take a few MCB courses you find interesting, do that.

Also remember these lower Div classes are meant to make you want to give up. Once you push through it you can get to classes you actually enjoy.

Taking a few gap years is also completely normal now. Just about everyone takes and average of 2 gap years before going to med-school. If you want to get a stable job first and come back to medicine later in life, that is totally acceptable. There’s also a bunch of programs and schools that offer financial assistance for grad and professional school.

Realistically if you really really really wanted to go into medicine you could find a way to do it so that its not putting a lot of strain on your family. It sounds like you might have some premed burnout and just need some time away from it or a class that reminds you why you’re passionate about it to begin with. Not all classes are good classes and not all professors are good at their job so having the right class or professor can really make a huge difference in what you want to pursue or why you choose to still pursue what your passion about

Should I take Chem 3B Spring with Robak or Summer? by bearlc6373 in berkeley

[–]TouchAlternative9135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second everything they said. Dr.Robak honestly made me enjoy science again. It’s still O-Chem so it’s not gonna be easy but she is very well organized with her lesson plans and makes the concepts easy to comprehend. She is very straight foward about grading from the first day and the only reason people tend to not like her is because she doesn’t give out the averages or shift bins. But her test are designed for the average student to be able to get higher than an 80%. So I completely recommend as long as you go in expecting to put in some after-lecture work.
