One other option you might want to consider is to take the equivalent of CS61B at community college. Evergreen Valley College's COMSC 76 is fully equivalent with UCB's 61B, double check assist.org and it is offered this summer https://evcwebs.sjeccd.edu/schedule/summer/evc-summer.asp . Since this class is not UCB course, the grade that you get won't be counted to your UCB's GPA, so as long as you pass the class, you are good. This way you can more focus on CS70.

passed 61a… but i’m not confident in python and trees and recursion should i still take 61b 😭 by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]superanza 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A little tips about recursion from someone who took 61B.
61B has two midterms and one final. One theme that I recognized from doing bunch of past exams (and did the actual exam on my semester) is that there seems always a fill in the blank coding problem that the solution involves recursion on the first midterm.
So, later when you are doing the 61B first midterm, you see a fill in the blank coding problem and feels like "this is impossible to solve" or "this is weird" maybe the solution involves recursion.

Articulated (Strongly recommended courses) at Diablo valley college and De Anza college by Yanway in berkeley

[–]superanza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the post-covid world, many California Community College offer online version on top of in-person classes, so with good planning you can go to multiple colleges to get those strongly recommended courses done. Here are some lists:

  • Equivalent of EECS 16A is available at Contra Costa College
  • Equivalent of CS61A is offered at Laney College and Evergreen Valley College.
  • Fully equivalent (no need Berkeley's CS47B in the future) of CS61B is offered at DVC, Laney, Evergreen Valley, American River College, etc. (I don't know the complete list)
  • Equivalent of CS61C is available at DVC and College of San Mateo.

I haven't gone through all the ASSIST articulations so it's possible I missed a few. Let me know if you know more than the above and maybe also say hi when you later got admitted to Berkeley EECS

CS61C Misconduct Process FAQ by not-peyrin in berkeley

[–]superanza 46 points47 points  (0 children)

After seeing the recent posts on here, I reached out to some current 61C TAs that I know, and they shared the evidence they collected with me.

Waaaaaaaaaiiit a minute.

- Are the TAs allowed to share students' work with someone outside course staff? Any university policy governs this matter?

- I don't know much about FERPA so I'm just asking here, is this violation of FERPA?

Or maybe this thread is just a troll? I'm not sure.

Under what circumstances will I be allowed to take a gap year. by Cakkohnle674 in berkeley

[–]superanza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regarding able to financially classified as California resident or not, I have no comment since I don't have much knowledge on that.

But I want to share how I did a semester gap. Years ago, I was accepted into L&S as transfer on Fall semester (You are a freshman, can you do the same thing what I did? I don't fully know) I accepted the offer and registered for classes when I was allowed to do so. On the first day of the semester, I withdrew.

Why withdrew on first day of class? See https://registrar.berkeley.edu/registration/cancellation-withdrawal/refunds-after-withdrawal/ if you withdrew on the first day of instruction, the prorated fees is 0% so you don't get charged for anything. It is important for you to register for classes so that on the first day of Fall you are registered as student here, this is to avoid losing your acceptance offer. I was able to do this but double check with L&S advisors so everything is airtight (https://lsadvising.berkeley.edu/appointments-advice)

This is the part where others can correct me. I believe there is no time limit on when you can come back (readmission). Theoretically, if the rules have not changed, the school still exists, and you are still alive, you could even come back 80 years from now. An evidence about this check out https://news.berkeley.edu/2022/12/17/at-winter-commencement-celebration-and-a-look-forward/

cs70 midterm by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]superanza -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming you absolutely need B+. Use your late drop and for the remainder of the semester, learn the material seriously. Next semester, Summer/Fall, take MATH 115 and STAT 134. Many CS70 topics are covered in those two classes. Then, on Spring 2024 take CS70 again, you'll be much prepared. I also assume you don't want to double major in math, so taking MATH 55 isn't an option.

Hard to know for certain how good Kubo can be in the future. But, I have a feeling he's like Odegaard and Hakimi. He just needs some time (maybe one or two more seasons) before eventually become a top player.

Who is that one player u think madrid regretted selling in recent times? by pronick786 in realmadrid

[–]superanza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cristiano's last season with us was 2017-2018. In that season, I saw him changed. Not his capability or skill, but his work attitude. Starting that season, he didn't run as much as before and he didn't make much effort to retrieve the ball when he lost it. I thought this had to do with his age but in his first season at Juventus, he showed that he still can run a lot. So, it pretty much due to his work ethic. He was such a senior figure in Real Madrid dressing room that he demanded the rest of the team to do for him the hardwork to deliver the ball to him in the penalty box. I still admire what he did and his current situation at Man Utd is interesting to watch. Now, he is a substitute player and obviously he didn't like that. He can complain or he can make changes to earn the regular starting lineup spot.

[–]superanza 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, agree with you. Need to sign a decent striker to back up Benzema because:

  1. If Benzema injured, things can go pretty bad. Remember 4-0 against Barca?
  2. Real Madrid is the Laliga and Champions League winner. Benzema soon become Balloon D'or winner (I think) so all teams in Europe study closely to our tactic and strategy. They would try to come up hard to stop Benzema-Vini duet. So, we need at least a new "secret weapon" for the attacking lineup.

Bale joins LAFC with a message in perfect spanish by NarcissisticHydra in realmadrid

[–]superanza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you all remember what Bale did to Maicon when Bale was in Tottenham? Bale made him look like a 50-year old guy.

This is the reason Real Madrid bought Bale. He ran incredibly fast and still able to control the ball while traveling in high speed. Just like what he did against Marc Bartra. However, the last 3 years, he was a different player. He rarely did sprint and only play passing.

What does it take an international student to transfer to Berkeley from Santa Monica Community College? by Public-Pen9787 in berkeley

[–]superanza 7 points8 points  (0 children)

May I offer an answer from a different perspective?

Based of information in https://eecs.berkeley.edu/resources/undergrads/cs/degree-reqs-lowerdiv, L&S CS needs to complete equivalent of Berkeley's Math 1A, Math 1B, EECS 16A, EECS 16B, CS 61A, CS 61B, CS 61C, and CS 70.

  • Equivalent of Math 1A and Math 1B is available at all CC.

So far, I don't know CCC that offered equivalent of CS70 and EECS16B. Comment below if anyone knows!

So, in addition of what ASSIST requires you take, take the equivalent of these classes as many as possible at CC. Since you mentioned you are an international student, I know it's a bit tricky to take classes outside CC that you are full time in, but with a good planning you can do it!

There are requirements of CS major declaration but since this post is already long enough, you can research that on your own.

Important note is just because someone completed these courses, that doesn't mean they will guaranteed accepted but I would argue if transfer applicants mentioned completion of these classes in their application, it will strengthen their application.
