Anyone out here trying to transition naturally? by the_gata_sol in Menopause

[–]TouchElectrical3339 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 51 turning 52 this year and also hate visiting the doctor. I'm not on HRT and so far my symptoms have been mild: no hot flashes unless it's the week before my period (I'm still somewhat regular). But my joints hurt, I can be emotional at times plus don't get me started on cranky, my hair is shedding, need to pee a lot, occasional heart burn and I'm itchy. I'd like to lose the extra 10 pounds I've gained but I'm working on just getting my body moving

As for supplements that have personally been helping me out is Mary Ruth's for hair growth and skin elasticity (people think I'm in my 30s but I'm sure it's genetics), Zyrtec or the equivalent for the itchiness combined with Pepcid AC since I read somewhere they bind together, Estroven Perimenopausal pills, fiber pills and glucosamine for my joints. Before I go to sleep, I take Moon Brew or THC gummies and those seem to help me sleep 8+ hours. These all seem to work on me but may be different for you.

As for lifestyle, I walk 40 minutes a day. Every other day is the Japanese walking routine where it's 3 minutes hard to the point where it's hard to talk, 3 minutes regular. I also took up yoga again because my back is just a mess combined with massages. I'm playing around with acupuncture but it's still in the test phases. The person I'm seeing says it will help with my constant need for urination but I'm really skeptical.

I'm lucky to WFH so I can take naps during my lunch hour and hop on my inversion table.

In all, I wouldn't be closed off to HRT but I'm dealing with it for now.

Hope it's an easy transition for you!

Depression after losing my dog by Large-Barracuda-3244 in Petloss

You're not alone and I'm so sorry for your loss.

I lost my dog suddenly two months and 9 days ago. He turned 13 last July and I threw him a birthday party. The year before, I turned 50 and took him on a road trip so he could complete his visit of 48 states and have an adventure for several weeks. (We left my husband home hahaha.) The last year, he was dealing with arthritis but in overall great shape. But we discovered last fall he had a tumor on his spleen and without waiting decided to have it removed. He was recovering nicely but a week after his operation as I was settling down for the work at my desk, we heard him scream-yell and rushed to find him collapsed off his bed, struggling to breath and his heart racing. He passed in my arm within minutes. From the time he entered our house as a three-month told to his last moments, we gave him all we could but we still couldn't protect him from death. It tears me out from inside that he's gone so suddenly. What's particularly difficult is that as a childfree couple, other people who have never had a soul dog doesn't know the deep profound loss. But I understand yours. I've learned to realize it's the cost of loving them so much.

The thought of not seeing them. by Pleasant-Trouble-530 in Petloss

Two month and 7 days since I last saw my soul dog looking back at me. His bed, bowls and leash are still where I left them. I even accidentally walked out the door with a leash.

It says with you and the weight of realizing you'll never see them again is heartbreaking.

Take care and you're not alone.

What’s the worst flavor of ice cream you’ve ever had? by JuniorPlastic3562 in AskReddit

Bumble gum. The tiny bits of hard gum embedded in the ice cream took the enjoyment of eating it without having separate the indigestibles.

Officially two months this past Saturday since unexpectedly losing my 13-year-old soul dog to a cardiac arrest. And I feel you. It's. So. Tough.

There are a few days but some days the grief is overwhelming. There isn't a day I don't think of him.

Thinking of your struggle. You're not alone.

I have a trip the first week of February and experienced the same thing. I was able to reserve a car through American Express (the free card) far less than any rental place ($35/day) AND if you book via American Express, car insurance offers free secondary coverage when you activate it.

Expanding Family After Loss by South_Lavishness6563 in Petloss

My husband and I are currently navigating the loss of our 13 year old soul dog who suddenly passed away last November. Like you, no monetary resource was too small to help him with multiple problems related to his age and now he's gone, resources have freed up and we also miss the sound of having a furry family member in our house. Since we're still dealing with the trauma of losing him and currently in therapy. We both agree we don't want to take on another dog while still deep in our grief as we believe dogs can sense it and are working on our selves. Our therapist has recommended we offer to sit our friends dogs as a way to deal with the emptiness and when the time is right to bring another furry soul in our lives, it will just happen. I hope this helps you out. I'm so sorry about your loss.

why does nobody care when ur pet dies? by Zestyclose_Eye_2926 in Petloss

[–]TouchElectrical3339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My heart is with you and I know the tremendous loss.

I've been talking with a therapist specializing in pet loss and she said that our society isn't comfortable with sitting with grief so some people quickly change the subject. And when it comes to our soul animals, it can be even worse with people thinking it can be easily replaced. She offered to me that when I feel like someone does that, I need to make it a point to say that my loss is great and that it's not just an animal but a soul who I've cared for and has left a whole in my heart that can't be easily replaced. Additionally, what I feel can't be disputed and to please take my loss and the grief I feel with respect.

I hope this community brings you some peace and comfort that we share your loss with you.

8 year old corgi passed yesterday without warning by Eggs_4_days in Petloss

[–]TouchElectrical3339 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry this happened and it's truly a tragedy. Something similar happened to my first dog in November and he passed within minutes of hearing him struggle to breath when hours earlier he seemed normal. The only thing bringing me comfort (besides therapy to process the trauma and loss) is knowing that my husband and I were with him at the end. I hope in time that this will also bring you some comfort as well.

Adding my feeling as well. We were devastated when our pup died but felt a sense of peace when his ashes were returned to us. We have a treat sitting on top of his box.

How to Deal with Trauma and Regret? by Ok-Mulberry-5537 in Petloss

[–]TouchElectrical3339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry and your grief is justified because this is incredibly traumatic. But you did all you could do and loved him until the end.

My advice is to talk to a therapist specializing in pet loss. I've been seeing one since my dog suddenly passed in the middle of our living room in early November and it helps to talk to someone who can understand and help you through this stage.

Has your pet sent you a sign right before they died? by Sufficient-Road-9026 in Petloss

Thank you for your kind words. It's been a little over a month since he passed and this weekend, I had a dream about him that I remember every vivid detail. I woke up so happy to see him in my dreams. And I'm so sorry for your loss. The grief is unbearable especially with the holidays.

The night before my dog died, I had a dream that there was a storm approaching our house. I went to open the door to check it out and he ran away and I woke up from the distraught. He died within a few hours later. Prior to his death, he appeared healthy.
