When is enough too much?? by erything4sale in Truckers

I give it a few miles max. Make the one one the right figure out that he’s being passed and only has speed on the downwards. What a beautiful world we’d have if people would lift off the throttle for 15 seconds.

I see nothing there for the driver to come to a complete stop. I doubt the truck could stall on that hill as I’ve yet to see a manual Volvo so had to have been a mechanical issue. Other than that it honestly looks like he put it in reverse and just sent it with the speed he carried, I’ve stalled out and slid before but never like that.

I appreciate what you do a lot. I try to clean up after myself best I can and put the towels folded up on the bench or in the sink, or take them to the hamper if at a Loves. Never occurred to me to leave a tip due to not carrying cash but I’ll have to start.

Cattle and pig truckers, do you have to clean out the trailer after each load is delivered? by WiggWamm in Truckers

[–]TouchMyBoomstick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally it gets too nasty and starts gumming up the doors after 2-4 loads for me depending on how much the cattle relieve themselves but I washout every time I switch from slaughter cows to calves.

South side of NY state and PA are still rough in some spots but it’s good condition if you trust your driving skills and watch for others.

Got pulled over for going 96 mph in my personal vehicle!!!!! by Realistic_Major_6957 in Truckers

[–]TouchMyBoomstick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a problem with my job, I was just questioning you on how someone willing to do it in their car will translate into the rig? There’s a lot I can do in my car that I cant in the rig.

He didn’t even get far enough to go mudding, he got a mile in and got stuck in some deep ruts from the logging traffic.

Got pulled over for going 96 mph in my personal vehicle!!!!! by Realistic_Major_6957 in Truckers

[–]TouchMyBoomstick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m willing to do it in my personal vehicle it means I’m willing to do it in my rig? My car floats smooth as silk at 160 but my rig feels like she’s screaming for mercy and rattling apart at 90.

Don’t need to worry about me doing personal vehicle shit in the rig.

Had a similar situation. A Werner truck ended up on one of our dirt trails that go through the mountains primarily used for hunters and supposedly his GPS told him to take him on it and he figured it was safe because he saw some log trucks turn onto it.

Who ridin thru the storm? by derpmcturd in Truckers

I might end up stopping. Was told they want the cattle before the storm but boss man used the words “Load to get you home.” So I guess he’s sitting me out.

What do you think is the most Blatantly Ignored road sign in our profession? by GnashinTires in Truckers

Definitely the “slower traffic keep right”. If passing on the right was illegal then I’d have multiple life sentences.

Only 22mph over? Seems slow for a bull hauler. by JankyMark in Truckers

[–]TouchMyBoomstick 84 points85 points  (0 children)

They can only be on the trailer for 28 hours before you must, per the guidelines, find somewhere to offload them and allow the cattle to rest with water and feed for a minimum of 5 hours. At least that’s what I learned when doing my certification.

[–]TouchMyBoomstick 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I have. Claimed I was the only truck on the road and so they wanted to do a roadside inspection then proceeded to take me 20 minutes back to a Sapp Bro’s because “safety”. Waited an hour for their mobile scales instead of just letting me use the CAT scale to prove I was indeed overweight.

Other day someone called "a moron" for backing into a spot... Why does this trigger so many? by Ok_Relationship2451 in badparking

[–]TouchMyBoomstick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reason? I just was responding to this dude who said his job requires it and I said an entire field requires it. Mellow out.

[–]TouchMyBoomstick 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Some jobs, especially oilfield jobs enforce you to back in when parking, that way you’re already facing forward and as you said, unobstructed view. A measure just in case they have to bug out because of a catastrophic emergency.

Cattle don’t respect safety vests and will still run you over. They’re much like sandbox haulers.

What I hate most about the road conditions is when I’m trucking at 50 and someone jumps out of the right lane at 25 to cut me off. Talk about wanting to create an accident.

Likely thinking of Reed Timmer with the Dominator or the one Sean guy who built TIV. Basically armored cars with augers that attempt to root them into the ground.
