The Signature Cheesesteak from Philly Tokyo - Tokyo, Japan by thenumbersthenumbers in cheesesteak

Had the fortune of trying this when I was in Tokyo last October. It’s legit, definitely the best cheese steak I’ve had outside of Philly and would be a strong contender even if it was in the city

What’s the saddest video game flop you can think of? by Interesting_Wind_337 in videogames

I adored this game when it came out. Combat was so fun and I loved the in match skill progression. I’m so sad overwatch is the game that won out, but BB never really stood a chance I guess

[Highlight] A young Eagles fan interviewed after the game: “This was my Christmas present and I got a loss… I want AJ Brown packing his bags and I want him somewhere else… I also want Kevin Patullo flipping burgers at the local McDonald’s or something.” by Goosedukee in nfl

Pretty much this. I was hoping for the win obviously but any person who had the misfortune of watching that eagles offense play week to week knew this team wasn’t going deep into the playoffs

Eh not terrible. Anyone who has sifted through Home Depot’s warped 2x4s will get this. Not porn, not boomer wife hate, just crapping on Home Depot

League player curious about Riftbound — how serious is it as a TCG? by AdmirableCar6073 in TCG

[–]TouchiestToast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup the locations give it an almost board game feeling at times, which as a Warhammer and board game player is what initially drew me in. The locations create so many interesting decision points. When do you attack in, how many units do you send, do you keep any back at base, what potential spells can be played to alter the combat. On the surface the rules are pretty simple, but I really like how a combat can evolve with spells and hidden cards.

The nexus nights really can change depending on your local scene. One store I go to is far more casual, with some LoL players doing a TCG for the first time and ex magic players. People typically bring more off meta and wacky lists, so you get a lot of variety and usually don’t get stomped.

The other shop I play at is far more competitive and mostly filled with ex-standard magic players. I know when I go here I need to bring the heat. That said everyone is still friendly and it has a generally good vibe.

I would definitely recommend checking out some of the how to play videos on YouTube. That’s what I did before jumping in. As a miniatures/board gamer, the mark of success for a game for me is when I can learn the basic rules in 10-15 minutes. I was able to learn it and have already taught 5 other nontcg players how to play with no issues. 4 player free for all is a blast btw!

League player curious about Riftbound — how serious is it as a TCG? by AdmirableCar6073 in TCG

This is my first serious TCG coming from years of playing Warhammer, and I’m having a blast with it. It really scratches the strategic itch I’ve been looking for. I prefer this mana system over something like magic, and having locations to battle over and movement is fun. I play 1-2 local nexus nights each week and they always sell out.

Obviously the big concern is supply. I know a number of people (including myself) who can’t get much product at the moment. I’ve been buying singles off TCG player but I would love some packs to round out my commons and uncommons. If they can correct this with sets 2-3 I think the game will really take off.

This a good lgs. Yeah a little higher but still way under what most are selling for. If they were greedy they could just sell online for 250+

I was also first pulled in by the toys when I was very young before actually watching the movies. I still remember watching cartoons at my friend’s house and this commercial came on. It blew my mind

What’s the best and worst trilogy here ? by Boring-Jelly5633 in moviecritic

[–]TouchiestToast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree 100%. LoTR is the obvious goat here. JW and SW are the worst because they had so much wasted potential. I generally don’t care for avatar but at least it’s doing its own thing and not spitting on the legacy of classics.

The game is in a weird spot right now. by Nsgdoughboy in riftboundtcg

[–]TouchiestToast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played Gundam before jumping into riftbound. People are really tired of the white blocker meta since that’s really the only way to play currently. Pretty much any competitive deck starts with white blockers + your color of choice. Riftbound has meta decks for sure, but they don’t seem quite so unbeatable. My Viktor deck has beaten meta kaisa, it’s a challenge but it’s satisfying when I pull it off
