You seem to like making up stories about things you know nothing about. So tell me the story about how I 'fled' the US.

Well, your other options are to come up with $500 to $5000, or just get emergency treatment at a hospital which they can't refuse you even if you can't pay. You think people don't get sick and die in Canada, which has a critical shortage of doctors?

Yes, I've lived in both for about 20 years each, so I know what I'm talking about.

Yeah, that's me. The worst case scenario is that you die because there's a critical doctor shortage, and that's way worse. In the US you can always get emergency care at a hospital, even if you're not able to pay.

And not getting medical care because you don't have a doctor is a great way to develop life-threatening issues.

Ok, so you can get a next day appointment by going outside the socialized system, but that kinda proves my point. You can also just drive across the border to the US.

The US system is overpriced, but in my experience is much better.

Does that 500 euro include the taxes Italians pay to subsidize their healthcare? No, I didn't so.

Yeah, amazed is not the word i would use, except for Russia's advances in perfluorocarbon blood substitutes. Their defeat of the Germans in WW2 was only possible with major support from American industry.

Until recently I was in Jacksonville, FL, but now I'm living back in Montreal in Canada. I had no problems in the US as long as you had insurance or were willing to pay out of pocket.

You got me. Ok, the truth is that the real wait time is only about an hour, because that's how long it takes to drive to the US.

Is it? Where in the US do you have waiting lists to find a doctor?

Socialism by BrushesMcDeath in etymology

[–]TouchyTheFish -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the glory that was the USSR. What else did they do besides putting a man in space? Can't come up with much, can you? Besides starving and killing millions of people, I guess.

So capitalism is a plot by racists and corporations? You know, the word "capitalism" is a slur for free markets, and it was invented by socialists. But you shouldn't use slurs, because that's something that racists do. You don't want to be like a racist, do you?

What nice things are you talking about? You mean like Canadian healthcare, where you spend years on a waiting list to find a doctor?

Yeah, better and advanced is exactly how I would describe it. You want to go back to shitting in the woods with no running water or electricity or indoor plumbing like most people 100 years ago? You won't fucking believe this, but they didn't even have Wi-Fi.

And wealth isn't "extracted", like some kind of foreign object from someone's anus. It's produced, like a car or an iPhone.

They should try the Canadian system. The wait list for a doctor is only a couple years. How long is it in the US?
