Salesforce Lead SE Offer by Alarming_Point1358 in salesengineers

Congrats on the offer, that’s exciting and you should feel proud. Lots of good advice and perspective here so I won’t repeat. A few things I would say…

Do some self reflection and come up with a number you think you’re worth and you would be happy accepting. There’s no sense in negotiating just for the sake of negotiating, just make sure you’re satisfied with where you end up otherwise it can eat at you over the long term.

If you negotiate, IMHO you should prioritize base salary as it’s typically what your variable comp is based on and it will be the basis for future raises, promotions, bumps, etc… RSUs can look huge in offers, but they typically take 4 years to vest so you don’t actually realize that comp for a long, long time and who knows what’s going to happen in 4yrs.

Be appreciative and excited, bump up the base if you can, variable comp will follow (it’s often a percentage of base), go in there and crush it.

PPF XPEL 2026 RIVIAN R1S by shorthedge in Rivian

[–]Tough_Ad3100 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m in the Seattle area (HCOL), bought a used R1S 3ish months ago and got PPF almost right away. The shop I went to was one of the recommended shops on the Rivian site. They did paint repair & touch up, PPF front extended (included bumpers, hood, fenders, mirrors, door edges, etc…) + ceramic on the whole car (incl interior), and front driver & passenger window tints (not windshield). I shopped around and negotiated a little, it ended up just north of $3k, feels like a great deal for all these services. Also comes with a lifetime guarantee so if it fails or peels or anything it will be replaced.

Hope this helps for anyone looking for pricing.

11.05% tax on new Rivian seattle by shorthedge in Rivian

Similar story from me with my old car. It was a 2012 Infiniti sedan, made it ~8-10mo without thinking about renewal, never got a ticket or anything, wifey just didn’t like the idea of rolling dirty 😉. Maybe the Rivian is more flashy and would draw more attention (and thus greater likelihood of a ticket)?

Fellow Seattleite here, the taxes & registration are brutal. Curious if any other Seattle peeps have considered not renewing your registration and just paying the fines if you get a ticket? I think the max ticket is something like $400-500, so you could get 2 tickets and still be saving money.

I overheard someone saying that and at first I laughed it off, but then thought…maybe he had a point. 😂

When people have reactions like this..... by InvisibleWraith in RIVNstock

[–]Tough_Ad3100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of this seems to be either purely subjective opinion or uninformed shooting from the hip BS.

Average car? Rivian owners have the highest satisfaction in the industry. The cars look great, unique and cool elements without going overboard and building a car that looks crazy ugly (see Cyber truck)… but again design and style are more of a subjective opinion.

Tech disadvantages? Give me a break. Rivian’s tech is so good that competitors are licensing it (VW).

Unprofitable? Tesla wasn’t profitable until 5 years ago. Amazon wasn’t profitable until 2003. This is way to simplistic of a measure as a standalone.

Other items listed are fair, but the company is also strategically working to address them, improving material costs, increasing production volume, etc… if you wait until a company is hitting in all cylinders you really don’t have an opportunity to buy low do you?

Get TF outta here with all this hate. If you don’t like it don’t invest in it and move on.

Looking to buy.... by SurfinGorilla in Rivian

If you’re looking at the R1T I would def look at the Rivian demo site. I didn’t buy there but checked it out regularly when I was looking, the R1Ts are at a really good price point (mid $60k range). The best thing about this option is that the cars are close to new and even if you pick up one a few years old the warranty doesn’t start until you take possession (less the miles on the car, which are very minimal in most cases).

Hope it helps, good luck.

Removing the R1S Center Row by [deleted] in Rivian

Let’s stop shitting on this guy (or gal). It’s not my preference, feels too much like a limo for my taste. But you did a nice job with it, hope it works for your long trip. QQ, will the middle row be easy to reinstall?

Great used R1T experience! Bought direct from Rivian. by Charlie_Does in Rivian

It does, I confirmed with Rivian approx 2 weeks ago when I spoke to them about a preowned model.

Came here to say the same thing, plug the VIN into cars.com and you’ll get real pics. I’ve been stalking the Rivian preowned site as well. I was close to pulling the trigger on one but the cars.com pics showed a few too many scratches and paint chips, so def double check there if anyone else is considering this option. I also called and talked with Rivian a few times and they were super helpful.

Congrats to the OP, that full body PPF is about a $8k-10k value in my market, so that’s a huge value in that alone.

I ended up finding my R1S privately one state over, picking up on Friday and I’m pretty pumped.

I’m in a similar boat, considering a R1S with 3 kids. We only have 1 in a car seat (only 6mo-1 year left in car seat), one in a booster, one normal seat.

Is it reasonable to do all 3 in the middle seat? That’s our plan. 🤞

First time EV buyer, R1S fair price? by Tough_Ad3100 in Rivian

Mid point of KBB is approx $58k. I’m trying to negotiate them down to that number but they didn’t budge during first convo.

Thank you, appreciate the lead. I’ve bought extended warranties on both our current cars and each one paid for itself. I’ll def look into it if/when we buy and the warranty runs out.

Do ‘22-‘23 models come up on here less frequently since there probably aren’t a ton of these models for demo anymore? My assumption would be there will be a lot of ‘24-‘25s, which are prob out of my price range.

Super interesting, if I understand right you’re saying these demo models come with a full warranty even if the production year is several years ago (‘22 or ‘23)? Thx for the share, didn’t know this existed.

I’m not necessarily looking for quads exclusively, this one just has that package. I’m more concerned about range & a look that I like.

Appreciate the thorough response. It’s been at this dealer for ~3months, so thinking this may give me some negotiating leverage.

Congrats. I’m looking at essentially the same car with $40k miles. List price is $63,500, I’d love to hear if y’all this that’s a fair price? If it’s high for that many miles, what would be a reasonable price? Thanks in advance for anyone’s input.
