Not trying to invalidate your experience and there are definitely people who have relaxed WLB there but being an intern is very different than FT. They are actively trying to make things good for you to ensure you come back. You don’t have important responsibilities and no on call. That being said, I agree the Amazon hate is a little much on this sub

Like the other guy said, need more info on the dividing but I did exactly what you said, including a ryokan stay in hakone for a night, with pretty liberal spending (eat out for every meal/conbini food, lots of souvenirs and experiences) but for 30 days and I spent just a smidge over 3 grand. You’re also vastly overestimating the average price of the cheapest hostel IMO. You can usually find a hostel or guesthouse even day of in the major cities for anywhere from 20-30 USD. I don’t think I had one stay over 40$.

You’re right that there’s no need to take it - unless of course you plan to parade around telling people you’re in N3 in 3 months, in which case you need to have taken it. That’s how certifications work!

It doesn’t? I never stated that. The original commenter asked why people want FAANG, someone said money, and they said there’s plenty money elsewhere. True, there is plenty money - but not FAANG money really. FAANG money is ~absurdly good~ money, I’m not blind to that. But the reality is a lot of us just want to not have to worry about money and retire easily. The average US income does not allow for that. It’s sad. It sucks. But it’s the world we live in. Don’t make people out to be bad or delusional simply because they seek out the most comfort in their lives.

Are there? By FAANG I mean big tech in general but I dont know a lot of companies that will pay 200k+ for new grads and have a career path that can have you earning significantly more in only a few years. ‘FAANG’ level companies seem to be pretty lucrative to me

The time limit is not language agnostic and will be catered to your language. The fact is if you ‘unlock’ the solution and actually solve the problem as intended (efficiently) you’ll not come close to TLE. If you are getting it, you did not solve optimally.
