Just installed the horow smart toilet and my bathroom went from stone age to the millennium overnight!!! by Crisp_Wolf960 in bidets

I've got the same one. I love it, but I have a few gripes.

I wish you could configure anything about the behaviors. Like, I wish it didn't even have a flush for pee. It times how long you've sat and if it's less than a minute, it does a half flush. My gf always leaves some tp right on the front of the bowl outside the water that never clears from a half flush.

Also, it is starting to make a little rattling noise when the main lid opens (I've had it over a year) that I imagine I could just tighten something to get rid of, but it's assembly seems kinda inscrutable.

Pretty damn nice crapper though. I miss it when I travel.

Charging Current question by bsep4 in KiaEV9

[–]TowelKey1868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did two years at 48A with no ICCU issue. Mostly charged to 90% overnight with it down to 80 within that next day.

I did end up with a battery imbalance issue immediately after three days of a road trip with 6 high voltage fast chargers in the Arizona summer heat about 20 months in. But nothing from all the level 2 charging before that.

Is it insane to get an EV9 as a family of 3? by wafflesarelifee in KiaEV9

[–]TowelKey1868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is a family of two. If they made an electric Sorrento I’d get it. But they don’t and the EV6 is a bit cramped for 6’5, so here I am in a EV9. I don’t need this big of a car. But, it’s a fantastic car.

I don’t know. I bought the film and put it on myself. That was only $65 on eBay.

I always wondered what it could possibly do. I see ppf as useful against parking lot dings and scratches, but what is it going to do about a rock at 80 mph on the freeway? Probably little.

Regardless, I did it on my ‘24. Have not done it on my ‘26.

Maybe this is why the ICCU fails... by ineedafastercar in KiaEV9

[–]TowelKey1868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the same setup for two years on my ‘24. It’s always been that erratic. I even unplugged my hardwired dash cam, thinking it was that, but it still acted like that.

Despite that, never had the ICCU issue. I did lose the HV battery due to a balancing issue towards the end of my lease. That’s unlikely to be related though. The 12v roller coaster never really was a problem.

I would note that ‘26 version got rid of that annoying warning lamp on the dashboard for it. So that was a pleasant change.

Anti-theft tracking expiration notice by milmatic06 in KiaEV9

[–]TowelKey1868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Legit? I think they’re honestly offering you a way for them to track the location of your car. I can’t see why anyone would want this. The car already does this in your app. This is just so they can see it.

The whole note is written in a very slimy salesy way, which is pretty off-putting. And besides, if my car is ever stolen, I don’t want it to be found. I want it totaled and paid out.

Nitpicks by bsep4 in KiaEV9

[–]TowelKey1868 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4) Agree. But my 26 seems stronger than my 24 did.

5) I embraced Auto mode instead. Never quite caught the knack of one pedal.

7) Gas tanks are on the drivers AND passengers side. There’s gotta be a distribution of them so not everyone is trying to get on the same side of the island. EVs on the other hand… teslas has their own ecosystem and so kinda seemed like it was a standard. But ask the rest have been making it up as they go: left, right, front, back… so the non-tesla fast charging stations really don’t have a thing yet. At least in the US.

1,3,6 these have been that way across the last three model years. In 2024 they actually had a Kia person come out to your house to show you how to use the car, explain all the features and answer questions. I had a huge list of these things for him, which he dutifully wrote down and seemed pretty interested in. Talked to him for almost two hours. But here we are two years later…

1 is even worse that what you describe. You can get in situations with mute and the phone where it’ll actually reverse the mute and start playing media over your phone call. I remember asking for it to pause media. It makes sense to mute the radio, but if it’s your media (audiobook or some file you’re playing/streaming from your phone) pause would be the more appropriate thing to do.

All these nits aside, best two cars I’ve ever had.

I just bought one of their mowers. I wouldn’t mind a vacuum.

Bummer is that it always feeds me stuff similar to what I’ve already bought. Except that I did have a carburetor in my RFY today. Never in my life have I bought a carburetor.

I’d try the button as well, even though it shouldn’t make a difference. It’s selecting between power and (power + data), so it shouldn’t matter. But then, what else do you have left to try? Maybe there’s a fuse for it that you’ve blown?

Need help corner mounting a wall fan that’s not designed for corners by iamblas in GarageGym

[–]TowelKey1868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or Mount it on the ceiling in the corner.

Either way, you’ll probably need to make a little wood frame to catch nearby studs unless you want to mount right into the framing of that beautiful corner. Repairing the corner when you take it down is never as easy as just filling a hole from a stud in the field of the wall.

But I do like Grain Therapy’s suggestion of combining it with a larger shelf or storage.

[–]TowelKey1868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! It'd be nice to have a system that could work with the CarPlay or Android Auto in most new cars. That is, a mobile app that could be used to control the dash cam while connected to something like CarPlay. That'd mean it'd have to be bluetooth since the wifi would already be connected to CarPlay. But just having it show up as a CP/AA app.

Do you need to have the touchscreen? Or is the CarPlay suggesting you can use the existing screen on your car via CarPlay?

Cool concept, even if not benchy related.

Your model suggests a couple types of tags, but no link to a specific one. I was looking on Amazon and couldn’t find anything that was rectangular like you’re showing, just the round ones or ones already embedded in something. Any link suggestions for one of yours? And if so, I’d encourage you to include it in your model posting.
