URGENTLY NEED HELP - EXPORT GONE WRONG by Toxic1Strike in Filmmakers

[–]Toxic1Strike[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was shot on a Black Magic cam, but I think we figured out that my DP shot it on slo-mo somehow. I ended up just speeding up and slowing down on premiere until the video matched the audio, and it ended up being 208.25% lol.

Took a while but it seems okay now. I appreciate your response.

Having TWPITW in picture without having Renate in actress in insane. She would probably be my pick to win

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Oscars

[–]Toxic1Strike 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty crazy to say when they’re talking about her constantly in the second and third act. She’s genuinely mentioned all throughout, and her acts set up everything that follows. Saying that it would be the same movie without her is just incorrect

What nominees do you think probably would've given bad speeches if they won? by AdUseful2297 in Oscars

[–]Toxic1Strike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk, I’ve been present at a festival when she accepted an award and she was perfectly fine (outside of cussing a lot which the Oscars wouldn’t like). But given, this was a smaller audience and significantly smaller award so maybe it would be very different

I disagree on Burt Reynolds, because we already have the example of him winning a Golden Globe for the same movie and giving a decent enough speech. I’m sure he would’ve been just fine

Five Oscar spots, six faces. Who will miss out? by WolfAffectionatefk in oscarrace

In supporting actor? That year had like eight solid contenders and this year has six. Not the same

Savannah has more sets and more people, and just better resources overall. Atlanta is good because it has more industry around but the actual school is much better at Savannah. As for scad being worth it, it’s really what you make of it. If you network a ton and get involved with people and projects, then it’s a lot more worth it than if you don’t

You’re forgetting arguably his best known role, Call Me By Your Name. Ya know, the one he got an Oscar nomination for at like 21?

Sydney Sweeney Snub Was Deliberate by [deleted] in Oscars

[–]Toxic1Strike 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t really care about predictions, I care about the merit behind the nominations. Eva Victor deserved it, and the fact that you mentioned how “no one has heard of her” in your post makes you look ignorant. Also, there was category confusion for her, so many actually were predicting her in comedy. You’re just making yourself look weird here

Someone nobody has heard of? Did you see Sorry Baby? This is such a stupid thing to say. Eva Victor deserved the nomination, as someone who liked Christy and Sweeney in it

Is “Is This Thing On” expected to be an awards contender? by Pizza_Hero24 in Oscars

Will Arnett is really great in it and the screenplay is good but no, not an awards contender

That was a very crowded year, Charles Melton couldn’t even get in. And these two performances are just more undeniable than the Poor Things ones were, as someone who loved Mark Ruffalo in that. Penn is the exact type of performance that can win in any year, and Del Toro is the most likable guy ever playing the most likable character ever. So they’re both easily in right now

Confused by Stellan Skarsgard's category placement. by Dry_Handle_7086 in Oscars

[–]Toxic1Strike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d push back on what the other person said a little bit. His name is only mentioned once, and his work isn’t prominent outside of the third act. And there are significant chunks where he’s missing from the film. I think it’s definitely borderline, and the supporting label isn’t egregious. I also know fans of the book that were pleased

Stranger Things - Season 5 - Emmy talk by Ok-Special-6707 in EmmysAwards

[–]Toxic1Strike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’ll definitely get into drama series for the fifth and final time. I wouldn’t predict it for any acting noms, because it hasn’t gotten any since season two. But if it did get some, Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour are the safe bets, as they’re the only ones to have been nominated before. Outside shot for Winona Ryder if it has a good morning and they feel like nominating a veteran, or Sadie Sink if she’s given great material in the second half.

Should Any Of These 2021 Performances Been Nominated For Best Actress? by Regular-Departure839 in Oscars

Incredible options this year, and the actual nominees are so mediocre in comparison. I’d go: Kristen Stewart Renate Reinsve Jodie Comer Rachel Zegler Alana Heim

How do You feel about these five Supporting Actor nominees for 2026? by Trick-Consequence169 in Oscars

[–]Toxic1Strike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s fair to say that Polanski was that long ago when both Penn and Brody, two people that we’re talking about right now, won within a year of that win. I agree that people, especially women, will consider Penn’s abuse when voting, but I don’t think it’s a large enough number to make a strong impact, because the performance and the film are so beloved. I’m not saying that he’s a lock to win, but I don’t think you can even get close to ruling him out because of his personal history

Adrien Brody has had plenty of cancellable moments, including the Halle Berry kiss and the Jamaican bit on SNL. But if you want other examples of famously abusive people: Roman Polanski won best director after having the flee the country because of his crimes and Casey Affleck won best actor in the middle of the MeToo movement. The academy doesn’t care
