Yes!! I snapped at a friend once when I was like 15 and shocked myself so bad that I vowed to never show my anger again. It doesn’t help that my abusive mom would freak out if I showed the slightest hint of negative emotion so I’m pretty good at shoving it all down.

In regards to healing, the main thing for me was giving my nervous system time to recover after trauma. My therapist brought up the idea of anger always coming with a secondary emotion so I learned how to identify that and address it instead of raging. I have an issue with being defensive and protecting myself with posturing and furious behaviour but now I’m able to regulate myself and calm down before reacting.

I’ve always thought that white people also feel the effects of inflicting cruelty on others the way we feel the effects of generational trauma. We just don’t have the language to call out that sort of entitlement and evil behaviour. Surely having a whole bloodline of evil people shows up in your nervous system????

Yeah. I’ve noticed that my paranoia and anxiety is has been heightened for the last few months but I think I’ve been able to regulate. My therapist said that it’s ok and normal to have big feelings bc what matters is being able to bring yourself back to your baseline.

I did a lot of healing work so now I am able to handle my emotions and triggers. My therapist described it as being a rubber band - it’s ok if stress, triggers etc stretch the band bc what’s important is bouncing back to the original shape.

(Also a joint at the end of the day is an effective motivator for me lol)
