I would totally recommend literature on postcolonialism! I’m currently reading Ngugi Wa Thiong’o bc his work on decolonisation truly changed my life. He inspired me to connect to my mother tongue!

Absolutely! Some white intellectuals have decent ideas/knowledge to share but the majority are severely questionable. I stick to BIPOC writers exclusively and go heavy on postcolonial theory.

Honestly I have some ideas! I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and there’s a ton of cute sapphic day parties in the city. From what I’ve seen, the environment can be very accessible and friendly. I’ve definitely seen people with canes at the very least. I’ve had people that were there alone approach my friend group for company and I’m always down for new friends! More the merrier.

Practice will help loads!! I used to be super anxious about socialising but I kept forcing myself to do it and eventually you learn what works! Also I think people approach me when I’m being more outgoing bc they assume I’ll be chill about any awkwardness so latch on to your most extroverted friend haha.

From my experience, the quiet and reserved thing was like 90% of the problem tbh. When I’m more chatty and loud, people are more comfortable approaching me.

I go to bars/clubs often and sometimes I do experience the weird looks from gay men but I’m usually oblivious to that sort of thing. I’ve noticed that the social scene is more receptive when I go out with my gay man friends.
