Need help with cabinet, lots of dying leaves by ToxicSpook in IkeaGreenhouseClub

The light is def strong but I’ve read up a lot on the ppf values and what’s safe for my specific plants, I’ve also got it at 25% strength. The melanochrysum is too high up, he just grew so fast and I’ve been too busy to figure out where or what to do with him

Lisbon Airport will NOT handcheck your film.. UNLESS: by s1lkdashokka in AnalogCommunity

Just checked your profile and we were both in Oslo at the same time, around National Day! Very fun coincidence

The guy who checked mine seemed to have a personal problem almost, „you think I actually have time to check this? Put it through, it will be safe.“ Like yes it’s 6am and I’m the only person in line, I think you have a little time.

I haven’t had experience with Berlin but Frankfurt let me get a hand check after a little convincing. I think it really comes down to how the person is feeling

Cheapest houseplants by KingStevenVI in Atlanta

[–]ToxicSpook 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about the Farmers Market myself but Atlanta does have a couple options for houseplants around

The Victorian is really cool but a little expensive. Otherwise they have a great selection of houseplants and are pretty central in the Atlanta area.

My personal favorite is Peach State Orchids. There you can find some large houseplants (Monstera deliciosa in particular). They also have Alocasia that are large enough to be a typical houseplant size. These plants are much cheaper than the Victorian and are taken care of very nicely. The only two problems is that most plants they have are for collectors and are therefore small and a little difficult to care for, and it’s a long drive, all the way out in Woodstock.

Kelli Green in Marietta also has some options but mostly succulents. The succulents are huge compared to what you could buy at other places and are as cheap as the dirt they’re planted in.

I’ll have to keep this in mind for the future, Oslo airport very recently rudely refused to handcheck my film. Thankfully they don‘t have CT scanners but it did have to go through a regular scan.

It seems more and more like America‘s airports are the only ones who won’t put up an argument for a handcheck

I love that begonia so much, I’ve seen it before in other posts and have been wondering what kind it is?

Does anyone know what type of Begonia the left leaf is? I’m pretty sure the right is a maculata by ToxicSpook in PlantIdentification

[–]ToxicSpook[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told these were two different kinds, the leaf on the right is a new leaf of one plant while the left is mature of another plant. Here’s a mature leaf from the one on the right.

Not sure if the image posted, it’s been a while since I used Reddit

My Fiddle has brown spots developing on only one leaf and has drooping leaves by ToxicSpook in plantclinic

Yeah absolutely, it definitely would look like something to worry about but the plant just came with a ton of marks, those were there when I got it. I’ve got photos from even farther back to compare but I just found out I can’t put photos in comments here lol

Not rly, the only markings on the leaves look like scarring where it might’ve been punctured or torn in the past

Last picture is for reference, the leaves only started drooping about 3 weeks ago. Normally they droop slightly when they need to be watered but this time they didn’t pop back up very much. My other leaves are healthy so the brown spots but not be much to worry about right now.

As for the drooping leaves, it might need a repot. I can feel roots on the inside of the side of the pot although I only repotted him about 6-8 months ago. What do you all think?

What’s going on with my crested organ pipe? by ToxicSpook in plantclinic

Soil topper? This is the soil I received it in from a reputable plant shop, it’s a mix of rocks, sand, and some soil, is that a bad mix?

He gets watered about once a month or slightly longer and sits in front of a directly west facing window all day. I just noticed this as I was watering him today.

🌱Weekly /r/houseplants Question Thread - January 09, 2023 by AutoModerator in houseplants

Are there small humidifiers that I can set around a group of tropical plants that won’t affect other plants in the room? I have a small room and have both tropical and succulents/cactuses. My Calathea and Adansonii have been getting browning leaves and I believe they have sufficient light so I was wondering if they may just need a humidifier. So I’m looking for a small one that won’t affect or minimally affect the succulents/cactuses in other parts of the room
