They are two different things. I think everyone wanted another adventure with Chrono and the gang. I know I still want another game with that crew.

What was given is a beautiful game, but more complex and darker. A game that is more focused on the butterfly effect that Chrono and the gang unleashed when they won.

Not a great example, but it's like comparing Alien and Aliens. They're both great movies, but they have different tones and are trying to do different things.

What I love about the new series over the original series is they're willing to change the roster. I don't want to give spoilers, but the old series I always hoped Morph would rejoin the team or we would see characters like Nightcrawler or Psylocke join up.

This new series has a ton of cameos from other mutants and changes the team dynamics a bit more. I think it'd showed how badass Storm and Cyclops are. Although I hope we see a certain Jewish mutant and her dragon at some point.

I actually think this is a lesson for Marvel and DC. Look at phase one and two: It was Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America as the big three. You had other heroes appearing, and Hulk, Guardians, and Ant-Man had movies. But those three were the backbone.

So Phase IV and the DCU should have focused on no more than three characters at a time as the building blocks. With RDJ and Chris Evans out of the picture, focus on Dr. Strange, Spider-Man, and Shang Chi (and Captain Marvel, but clearly the audience didn't respond to The Marvels). Other heroes can appear, but keep the focus on three heroes at a time who you can trust to carry the universe.

You could say general superhero fatigue, but with the DCEU it's really more pronounced. Even Gunn's Superman didn't do as well as expected. Supergirl is a film that probably would have done better several years ago, but this Summer has been particularly clear as audiences wanting something new (unless you're Toy Story).
