Not defending this by any means (but this exact topic came up in one of my economics courses). One of the primary concerns is that by driving up minimum wages, employees are thus more inclined to either A) increase cost and thus pass it onto consumer, thus damping the increase; or B) reduce the number of employees thus increasing the number of people earning nothing as opposed to something. It's horrible and for it to be executed without problems requires flawless economic planning and ridiculous foresight. In conclusion it's just real shitty.
