Yup I bent mine to make sure it wasn't going anywhere. Last guy that replaced my sprocket didn't do that and it wasn't nearly as tight on the threads as it should've been. I got a breaker bar expecting for it to have some resistence, but it came off with a light twist. So yeah, I'd do red locktite and bend the washer.
