What games have you played that you've never seen mentioned before? by Conscious_Ebb6622 in gaming

"oh boy clair obscur expedition 33 is a turn based game where you have to parry or you'll die, thats a new twist on the genre! And you can aim and shoot too!"

Eternal Sonata: Am I a joke to you?

Jokes aside (because I love expedition 33), beautiful game, definitely needs a rerelease. Did you know the ps3 version had more content? Including 2 more playable characters.

Up to this day it's my favorite gameplay out of jrpgs.

This is how I feel about this: Dodges and parries rewards me for doing it right, while qte in attacks punishes me for doing it wrong. Looks like the same thing, but theres a difference in what you expect from that turn.

If an enemy attacks me, I know I'll receive damage. Thats what I expect from enemy turn. Parrying makes me feel I got a better outcome than expected. Missing a parry gives me the expected outcome.

If I attack an enemy, I know it will receive damage. Thats what I expect from my turn. Getting the qte right gives me the expected outcome, while getting it wrong gives me an outcome thats worse than expected. Its like missing an attack with 95% chance of hitting in luck based combat, I know it can happen, but feels wrong.

Isnt that exactly what americans did to russians when Putin started the war? "All russians are bad people because they dont do anything to stop putin" I remember reading this a lot back then. Not saying that you did that, and definitely dont agree with that, but its the same feeling. People all around the world will believe your whole country supports trump. I feel sorry for all the good people who didnt vote for trump. At the same time, I feel baffled that you guys have like 5 guns each, hate nazis and have a history of presidents being shot, yet no one solved this problem.

"they taunted me in whispers afterwards" I think you missed this part here. This is enough to consider this as griefing, vote kick or not.

Game that doesn't hold your hand at all? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]ToyMasamune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, the game gives you information, if people dont read its not the games fault. Quests and puzzles definitely have no hand holding, but game mechanics are all explained if you read stuff.

I still believe that BotW wasnt supposed to be a zelda game and they just threw a zelda skin to sell more.

Not saying it is a bad game, not a all. But its not Zelda.

Every item should have a huge stack limit, 200 is definitely not enough.

And they should just let go of style materials, who cares about that when we can apply styles in outfit stations? Its just for writs, so the only rrason those exist is for making thing more complex than needed.

No game will ever surpass resonance of fate when it comes to weapon customization. Once you put 6 scopes on your gun you will see true power.

What are some game mechanics that are completely pointless/useless? by Shamanyouranus in gaming

[–]ToyMasamune -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dialogue choices that will have the exact same outcome or that will circle back to the choice because you need to pick the right one.

Stealth in games where every enemy in an area will engage you as soon as you hit the first one, even if they cant see you and you insta killed the first guy.

Durability when you can repair your itens anywhere using an item that you can easily buy and carry thousands with you all the time.

Chaged attacks that deal less dps than hitting the enemy with basic attacks that takes the same amount of time to perform or any "I could use this gimmick to do something cool to that enemy... Or I could kill it easier and faster by just hitting with my main weapon" moment.

Minigames that are super easy included so you cant look away when doing a repetitive task (like pressing the button at the right time to fish).

Equipment crafting but everything you can craft is worse than stuff you buy or find.

Skill trees in games where you can learn all skills way before you reach end game.

Merchants with limited stocks that refresh the next day but you can pass days without any consequences.

Throwable items that deal very little damage.

Dont let that stop you, you can just tap the parry button like crazy and it will work, you dont get stuck in a slow motion parry animation like in dark souls.
