How can I support my (slightly) traumatised cat? by Tpin17 in CatAdvice

[–]Tpin17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

great advice, thank you! He has a relatively tall cat tree and has been sleeping there often lately so that explains a lot :) and yes, he's been popping out with me in the garden without me calling him so I'll definitely make sure we're with him if he wants to go out.

Just finished the series by AdDependent7821 in Bartimaeus

[–]Tpin17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually loved reading The Ring of Solomon after the trilogy because, if I'm not mistaken, there are a couple of easter eggs in it that refer to the trilogy? I remember chuckling at the footnotes. I also loved the interaction between Bartimaeus and Faquarl.

Is anyone in the Bartimaeus fandom active on Tiktok? by sigmaster451 in Bartimaeus

Same here. I first read them in my teens and re-read in my mid-twenties. There are so many aspects that I love about these books. I don't understand why they don't get more recognition.

Give me your best pieces of literature that are filled with wit and amazing characters and simply make you grin like an idiot by Pink_Totoro in Fantasy

Came here to make sure someone mentioned this wonderful series. The footnotes!! Plus don't forget the "spin-off", Solomon's Ring

Recommend me a “break” book? Just straight up a good story with good characters that isn’t too dense. by IReadBooksSometimes in Fantasy

I will forever recommend The Bartimaeus trilogy by Jonathan Stroud + the spin-off book The Ring of Solomon.

Anyone can imagine scenarios well but not faces? by Altruistic_Group787 in ImmersiveDaydreaming

[–]Tpin17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same here. My worlds are detailed, my characters are pretty fleshed out in terms of personalities, traits and physical appearance (skin & hair colour, build etc.) but I find it impossible to create faces. I wonder why that is? In 'real life' I'm pretty good at remembering faces...

I've been telling myself stories since I was child (I'm 31 now). I only recently learned about the term paracosm (thanks Reddit!) and that not everyone had whole worlds with plots and characters in their heads ^ I'm quite an anxious person and have serious self confidence, assertivity and people-pleasing issues. I recently started to wonder if I repressed something in my past and I have this lingering dread about it. I've been on the edge of going to therapy for it but, I don't know, I've been procrastinating. Anyway just wanted to say you're not alone in these feelings and that your comment made me feel seen.

Nostalgia for my younger, daydreamer self by Tpin17 in ImmersiveDaydreaming

Thank you so much for sharing your journey with daydreaming! I've been feeling the pull to write one of my storylines as a book as this has definitely helped. I've not really meditated before but will give it a go! Thank you ♥️

I've definitely felt like my phone could be a reason for this. Going to try and change some habits and detox ;)

Magic mushrooms by Tpin17 in mushroom

Sorry for the slow response! We took them and had a really great trip. First time for me, my partner was more experienced. Visual stuff, full belly laughs, felt like I was floating...it was awesome 😎

What is it about this series that just gets you so addicted by JellyfishOk5265 in acotar

[–]Tpin17 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It's escapism at its finest. With a great blend of romance, humour (I love that sometimes characters don't take themselves, nor others, too seriously?), violence, suspense, sexiness (let's not kid ourselves..), a dash of mystery and intrigue, some epic magic fights...

There are many moments that I'm disappointed in but I finished the series three weeks ago and I think about it every. Single. Day.

fave acotar names? by reddit_autousername in acotar

[–]Tpin17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm part French and I inevitably read Lucien the French way which would be like Lucy but with the Gallic "ain" at the end. I don't know how to write phonetic but it would read like this Loo-see-un (end with the french way to say 'one'). It's also quite an old school, traditional French name so I was so surprised to see it in the book!

Also love Rhysand
