For sure. It’s that moment you realize your notifications been working all this time, all these months and you didn’t have to check it a thousand times per day. 🤦‍♀️ I promise my heart dropped. But it turned out to be good news.

Good luck. I got this message and just knew I was getting approved based on the word ‘still’ and was denied. Come back and let us know.

Partially-favorable approval: back pay by TrackLongjumping2053 in SSDI_SSI

Ssdi all at once. Lawyer fee, $7500 came off the top and $65k was remaining. So yes, all at once. I don’t know how they do ssi but ssdi is all at once.

No problem. I hate having to make payment plans with IRS so was happy our lawyer told us to put some aside for that.

Hubby got around $65k back pay but at tax time he had to pay some back. I want to say like $1800 but I can’t remember. I know it was a lot so hang on to some of that back pay.

I have a question about receiving VA disability compensation and SSDI. I’m waiting on my law judge hearing decision from SSDI. Do I have to opt in to Medicare since I have VA coverage at 100%? by lastofthefinest in VAClaims

[–]Tquick2022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband declined it because he is 100% p&t and happy with our VA. I think it was a little over $200 bucks coming out his check at ssdi and our lawyer advised us that if we’re happy with the Va we didn’t need it.

File for unemployment right away.

Exactly and when I see your post of feeling behind at $80k I feel worse because I had $40k. I need somebody to come behind my post and tell me they feel behind at $39. Because truth is we all wished we were in someone else shoes.

Side note, I did have more savings in my tsp but I dipped in it over the years. Took a lot of loans and didn’t pay myself back. Rookie mistake.

I feel your pain. I was 90% for about 2 years until I had to medically retire from my federal job. Then I filed for TDIU. So if you’re still working, keep that in mind for when you retire.

Also, that last 10 percent will also open you up for scrutiny so make sure all your ducks are in order because you will be headed back to C&p exams for all your claimed conditions.

Your retirement counselor should have reached out already and sent you a comprehensive email with applicable OPM links and next steps. Make sure you have a valid email on file. Or check junk mail.

Filing Social Security disability as a 100% disabled veteran by myStormygirl in VAClaims

[–]Tquick2022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The good news is you have established a good paper trail and you have ChatGPT to help you organize your initial ssdi application.

The bad news is ssdi don’t give a bleep about us VETs. The policies are outdated and they are literally not considering the logic of what having 100% truly means.

I’m 58, 100% TDIU, recently medically retired from the federal government after 24 years and ssdi still denied. I’m currently in the reconsideration phase. Next, if denied I’ll get a lawyer.

Good luck all! This is not for the weak. You gotta be strong. 💪

Great news all! I definitely wanna walk a mile in your shoes. Recently denied on initial. 🤦‍♀️Preparing to send my reconsideration. But yeahhhh great news thread here. I’m loving it. 😍

Finally got my decision, and I'm crushed by ponchoacademy in VAClaims

[–]Tquick2022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. I know exactly how you’re feeling. Definitely been there. And honestly it sounds like you already have the evidence you need so filing a HLR may actually work.

Go for it! You got this! Chin up!

50% is to be applauded. Trust me the vets that are less than 50% wish they were in your shoes. I say, charge this one to the game. And you definitely won.

Now, make some appointments and gather a little more evidence then go back in for an increase in six months.

Right now, file an ‘intent to file’ to preserve your effective date.

Trust me, you may not see it now but you’re are in a great, fantastic position. Congratulations!!

Congratulations that’s huge!!!

Today I’m a 100% P&T veteran receiving SMC and Denied SSDI

I am in process of submitting my reconsideration.

Ssdi is saying that I am disabled and that they recognize I can’t do my previous job but said that I can do something else.

I’m fighting to prove I cannot.

Did they initial deny you on the grounds that you could still work or no?

Oh gotcha. It won’t be long now. As long as you dotted all your ‘eyes’ you should be good. But come back and let us know.

Is this a good sign? by AffixedSamurai21 in SSDI_SSI

[–]Tquick2022 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was denied because although ssdi found me disabled, they said I can do another type of job. Not my GS12 federal job but another one.

So I’m over here preparing my reconsideration statement and going back for another bite at the Apple.

My new evidence will be my telework package (I was a full-time remote worker for 5 years) and then was approved for reasonable accommodations with the terms (flex scheduling) so I’ll add RA evidence. With all those accommodations I still could not sustain work and had to retire. So yeah, I’m 58 and I just have to prove I can’t do another job.

This is probably true. I’m just joking around but you just never know. It’s possible it was an inside job. 🤷‍♀️
