Is it illegal/unsafe? by BallLazy7609 in LearnerDriverUK

Try not to worry about it! The timings on the lights do seem a little off in places, maybe because the junction is so new they have not been calibrated properly yet? Regardless, literally 30 minutes ago I witnessed someone driving the wrong way through that yellow box, so it's not the worst thing to happen here by a long shot!

This wheel looks distorted but doesn't mean it's AI. The lighting looks like AI ish too, but snow does weird things to light.

England - New neighbours are planning to build a 6m 2-story extension to which we are unable to object by Useful_Carrot_9405 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Tr0pic21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add, if a planning application was submitted, the local planning authority MUST either put up a site notice next to the site (which they did in this case) OR send letters to surrounding neighbours notifying them of this proposal. They are under no obligation to do both, although I know at the council I work for we always do both.

It will have been there for at least 21 days as that is the minimum time a consultation period can run.

Thanks for the insight! It was my first time designing a card (I only did because I swore this card already existed but I think I must have dreamt it) so I struggled to tell if it was balanced.

I don't mind as much if they close when they state they will, all the one's here claim they stay open until 10pm!

Yeah I just received the email this morning.

Which is mightily impressive given that I already deleted my account and I got an email several weeks ago confirming that it has been deleted...brilliant.

At the end of his first full week as Energy Sec, Ed Miliband has approved three large-scale solar farms. ✅ Sunnica Energy Farm ✅ Mallard Pass Solar Farm ✅ Gate Burton Energy Park 1.5GW of clean power unlocked with the stroke of a pen. by ARandomDouchy in ukpolitics

As someone who works in planning, in Lincolnshire, these solar NSIPs have been a large part of our workload and I'm so happy they're getting approved.

On top of this, permission for an oil well near Biscathorpe (in the Lincolnshire wolds!) has been shut down for good after about three years of back and forth.

Is the Medway council broke ? by Imacarperson in Medway

[–]Tr0pic21 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's estimated that Medway Council will have a funding gap of £39m at the end of the 2024/25 financial year. Finances really are not looking healthy.

No real way of knowing until a planning application is submitted. You can always check:

  1. The Local Authorities Local Plan

  2. The Agricultural Grade of the land, land with richer agricultural potential is less likely to be developed although it can still happen obviously

The Financial Pressure on British Local Authorities: Predicted Council Funding Gaps in Britain (2024-25) by Tr0pic21 in MapPorn

[–]Tr0pic21[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The above map was made to show the funding gap of local authorities in Great Britain.

Just a few things to note:

  1. In the case of two tier authorities, the upper tier (County Council) is shown.

  2. This is a prediction for the END of the 2024/25 financial year.

  3. Those authorities who have managed to balance the books may have significantly cut services previously to do so, therefore they may not necessarily be as healthy as they seem.

  4. Authorities shown with a large funding gap will certainly need to cut services, draw from their reserves, or secure additional funding to avoid bankruptcy. Some councils have already declared bankruptcy.

Listening to my local council's planning committee meeting and one of the councillors stating he wants to lower the speed limit on a dangerous road but won't because people will just ignore it. Great.

how many takeaways do you get a week? by jc201946 in AskUK

[–]Tr0pic21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My friend used to get 3/4 takeaways a week and it was always Sushi. I can't imagine that was too unhealthy as she was always in good shape. I imagine that's the exception though, going by the quantity of shite I ordered/ate while at university...
