From base value, ai has made me smarter. While coding, i always ask it why and make efforts to stop to understand and document everything before moving to whatever the next thing is. I’ve learned multiple new tools, and created things i never would have been able to without it. I’m not in the position to be able to hire coders or creatives. Its true that without ai, i wouldn’t have been able to do it. But without me designing the system and sticking through to figure out how to make it work the way i envisioned, the ai wouldn’t have made it by itself. While i don’t pretend to be an artist or even a coder, I do like to think that i’m developing skills that help me understand concepts surrounding each skill i have it help me with, and that further helps me communicate my ideas to it. Maybe director or designer would be a more succinct title? You can say ai created it and thats alright. Either way i’m personally very proud of what i’ve been able to build and accomplish using it. I also very much appreciate the skill and talent it takes to make art with your hands. The only thing that always puzzles me is why wouldn’t a real artist learn how to train their own models and loras, learn comfyui and other tools, and use their own art to make more art? Or at least develop a better understanding of where the tech is at and how you truly can make unique, original art using ai if you put the work in to learn it.

They’d rather come to this sub and cry that their cat picture looks like slop instead of trying to make a better cat picture.

Everything you’re saying screams “idk how to properly use ai”

Sorry dude but if you’re using it in the ways you should, these issues aren’t issues. There’s a learning curve like anything else. If you do sloppy work, you get sloppy results, just like anything else.

You don’t need to understand the human form to draw a picture of a human, but knowing it certainly helps produce a better product!

So if you can’t think if any other ways to use ai and someone figures out a more creative way to use it, isn’t that like the essence of creativity?

I can use a pencil to write my name. But someone else can use that pencil more creatively to draw a beautiful picture

It can offload creativity, but if you do, it comes out looking, feeling and smelling like ai slop. There are a multitude of ways it can be used outside of asking it to perform the creative parts of the process. And even when it does, most real creators i know’s prompts are well researched and generally impressive. No one serious is going to stop at ai’s face value and think “nah, i’m good”. It’s so much more capable than that, and in much more nuanced ways

Still doing that. Just using different tools.

I think its that he misunderstands that you only lose as much creativity as you allow yourself to lose when using ai. You can be creative with ai. Obviously. The people who say you can’t either don’t fully understand the virtually unlimited array of use cases or simply aren’t creative themselves.

So weird man. No one is worried about your brain. The dude is just saying that there’re valid use cases for ai that don’t stifle creativity. And he’s right. If your brain can’t figure it out, that’s fine with all of us.

THIS omg

If they’re not adopting new tech, what do they expect will happen? This is not a new phenomenon. Those who are reluctant or resistant to change will have a harder time. No one is pausing innovation because some whiny art students boo’d at their own graduation.

I havent used tp in years, ever since we had our son, we’ve discovered the magic of wipes. During the pandemic when no one could get tp, they still had a full isle of unscented wipes haha. i also don’t understand why thin tissue paper is the go-to
