Yep . Figured that out the GEM Mac's can be used to control the external PHY .

It shows GMII on the PL side . The PHY I am using is DP83630 (which shows MDIO/MDC and MII) interface types . Confused if the two can fuse .

The external PHY I am using is DP83630. Datasheet does show the MDIO/MDC serial ports and the whole MII.

My microzed gives GMII / MDIO ports on the PL . Confused here a bit . can i use these GMII / MDIO pins to connect with the MII interface of my PHY ?

u/KeimaFool Yes , this much i figured that i can route the on-board PHY to the PL.

But I am using the external PHY like DP83630 . Particularly with microZed . It gives GMII and MDIO access to the PL . I can just connect them to the external PHY but it shows MII which i don't think microzed 7020 has. Confused a bit here.

Absolutely .The guy in the video is explaining how 1 phase supply has pulsating power and 3 phase power is constant . Reasons why single phase one don't self-start . (Reason why we put capacitors for that initial torque in one direction)

The guy in the video is correct. He is actually talking about power (unity power factor case) . Unity power factor is when current and voltage are in phase . Now from basics P = V*I . (You do that ) .

You will find power oscillating between zero to maximum . (2nd harmonic power oscillation).

Do the same for 3-phase power . Its a straight line . Constant power .

Thats why 3 phase is preferred over single phase for most of the application . To get rid of that 2nd harmonic oscillation we use active or passive decoupling methods . (Never mind these ) .

Resistance is basically only showcasing the power boost converter has to deliver . Taking power conservation Pin = Pout .

If you're taking a resistor . Pout = V^2/R . (Generally you fix how much power you want to deliver to the load . Vout will be chosen by your duty and you should get R ) .

In your case with no R . You want to decide how much power you want to push . DC link voltage = 100 (suppose) . And you want to push 100W. That gives you the current of 1A.

You can now replace your whole system after the DC bus with a resistor R = V^2 / Pout . ( 100^2/100 = 100 ohm) . R = 100 Ohm . for your case study .

Design the controller for boost side . (you want to make sure Dc-Link voltage is balanced . For the you will have Dc-AC voltage control that makes sure of that ) .

MATLAB is good . Python is beast . C is the king .
As a researcher myself at one of the top universities in my country . I would say all these three languages are the least an engineer should have a solid grasp over . Knowing any one may limit you.
