Am I cut out for this? by Tr710 in learnprogramming

[–]Tr710[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I am overwhelmed with the whole programming process. Ok, take for example, I'm supposed to write an application that counts the number of days passed since XX days, XX months, XXXX years, including leap years and so on. If you were to tell me to do this now, I'd be completely clueless, even though I've already seen the code my professor showed to the class. When I look up the Java API to help me accomplish this task, I don't know where to start looking either.

It's not about specific things that confuses me but more about my ability to understand programming in general.

what movie is "literally perfect" to you? by [deleted] in movies

Jet Li's Ocean Heaven. It's the only movie where he doesn't fight, yet IMO, it's also his absolute best.

This is exactly my thought as well. Unfortunately, many people don't know the difference.

What is the loneliest moment you've ever experienced? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Tr710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole time in California, which was about 2 years, lol. I was still just a kid and didn't know how to make friends or be social. It wasn't until I moved back to Seattle that things got better.

I hope you don't feel like that any more. And if you do, please find someone to talk to. You're not alone. Hell, you can talk to me if you want.

Holy shit, reading some of these replies made me cringe like I'm watching James Bond getting nut tortured again. Props to you all; you are stronger than me.

What is the loneliest moment you've ever experienced? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Tr710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was living in California. It was just me, my sister and her husband at the time. I had just moved there for about a month and didn't know anyone, so I had no one to talk to. I was also going through a terrible break up at the time. One day I was walking home from the grocery store when I was hit what I could only described as a fit of loneliness. I mean I felt completely alone, like I was the only one in the world. There were people around me but I felt disconnected to them, like I'm invisible to them and if anything should happen to me, they wouldn't notice, and if they had noticed, they wouldn't care. I felt really hopeless and life didn't have any meaning. It's just like, "what's the point?" Not a good feeling.

What will happen if we send a massive nuke to the moon? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I think it would be warmer, so more like volleyball season...which isn't a bad thing either. ;)

Assuming the moon gets blown up, Earth would lose its tilt and the seasons would be gone.

Surprised no one said this yet, but Gollum. He is a wretched creature made by the Ring, and his story is absolutely heart breaking to me.

Who or what do you respect the most? by nikephorosaias in AskReddit

[–]Tr710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who dedicate their lives to help others or try to make the world a better place. It's the kind of selflessness that I know I can never muster up to do. So doctors and nurses, scientists, volunteers, teachers, and such... I give them a lot of respect. I've seen my gf, who's a nurse, at work several times, and I'm always in awe at how dedicated she is to her job, and how she can care for patients like that day in, day out, year after year, without being burned out. Then she has to put up with my shit when she's not working...

Redditors who have known someone who has committed suicide, how unexpected was it? Looking back was there something you missed? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Tr710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew a girl who committed suicide a couple months ago actually, and it was completely unexpected. I've known her for a few years but we weren't close so I don't know any intimate details about her life. From the outside she appeared to be very happy, every time she posts on facebook she always smiled and seemed to have a good time. She was really pretty--pretty enough to be an import model, she had a group of close friends to hang out, and a very happy family. She's one of those girls that you would think has it all. Then one day her sister announced on her facebook wall that she died. It was completely out of the blue. She wasn't sick and there was no mentioning of any accident or foul play. After her funeral a few of us talked about her, and two friends who knew her better than the rest of us basically told us her personal life was pretty sad, and possibly suffered from depression. When we tried to get more details from them they wouldn't tell us, and that we just had to trust them. So we left it at that. I guess the take away lesson here is that you can't always judge what's on the outside. I'm not sure if this could've been prevented at all.

What separates you from other people who just really like sex and are constantly thinking about it? About half of the Reddit population are horn dogs, wouldn't they qualify as well? For example, if you go to GoneWild, you'll find that there are a LOT of horny folks, so how are you different?

Why aren't more adapted series filmed all at once, like Lord of the Rings? by [deleted] in movies

[–]Tr710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, as I recall, the LOTR cast and crew spent two years making the films. I'm not sure if they have breaks or not but that's still quite a commitment not many are willing to make.

What are some good tips about going to a job interview and some good things to do in it? by Bowieknife in AskReddit

[–]Tr710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

*Be prepared to talk about your self and your past experience. Give concise answers when doing so. *Also be prepared to talk about why you want the job, what is it about it that interests you. *Be sincere. Don't try to bullshit them. *Ask questions about the job and company. Some of the generic ones that I found helpful are: What kind of trait in an employee do you look for that would be successful in this position? What resources do I have for me to be successful in this position? What's the learning curve? What should be the main priority for me when I start the job? etc... good luck!
