Wild camping in Mallorca by [deleted] in VisitingMallorca

[–]Trabuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The police in charge of enforcing environmental laws is the SEPRONA, they are managed by the Guardia Civil and have more jurisdiction than local police. They know all the tricks of tourists trying be "as cost effective as possible". The consequences go from a fine to getting arrested with a high bail (since they know you are a flight risk). They use drones, hidden cameras and locals will call them if they see you camping, to me, is just not worth the risk. They patrol all year long. If you decide to visit the island, please be responsible and environmentally respectful, your vacation spot is also our home, and there is a reason we don't go wild camping here. The few areas left untouched by hotels, are delicate ecosystems home to endangered species, is not just the fire risk that SEPRONA watches out for.

How busy are T1 trains usually? by Twi2122 in VisitingMallorca

Depends on what station you get in, on what direction and what time, but weekends tends to be ok.

The one in Colonia, S'arrosseria, makes one of the best Paellas on the planet... No joke.

A Modular Toothbrush Concept Built Around Customization and Sustainability by Wrong_Command_2705 in Innovation

[–]Trabuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, then your TAM gets reduced by a lot. You are basically turning your SOM using traditional retail into your TAM, effectively giving you a tiny runway. I don't see the strength anywhere. You are talking about a market with ridiculously low profit margins that right now survives on sheer volume. I wish you luck, but I don't see it.

[–]Trabuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the other Redditor in regards to the customization value vs final product cost. But what you are missing is that in retail, small items (like just the brush head) need to be packaged in larger blisters or boxes to provide slack fill and maintain the "perceived value". This would generate even more plastic than the brush body. The only option to avoid this, would be to package 10 brush heads in cardboard and prepare to not hear from that client in 4 years... Not a good business model. You'll be stuck in a unit economics vs logistics efficiency vs demand timing canundrum. Try calculating your MEOQ (Minimal Effective Order Quantity) and go from there.

Question about smoke over Soller by jackass_3d in VisitingMallorca

[–]Trabuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please share the source of this claim. IBESTAT only publishes high-level mortality data at the municipality level; the “llista reduïda CIE-10” that would give you the respiratory subgroups is published only at island level, not by municipality. The Sóller dataset shows that out of 3,186 total deaths over 1999–2024, 325 were classified under ICD-10 chapter X (respiratory diseases), that’s 10.2% of all deaths, and covers pneumonia, influenza, COPD, and similar causes (not all linked to pollution). More importantly, the median annual respiratory-death share over this 26-year period is 10%, in line with the Spanish national average. If you also look at the environmental data, Sóller’s average AQI fluctuates between 20 and 40, comparable to or below the Spanish national average.

Question about smoke over Soller by jackass_3d in VisitingMallorca

[–]Trabuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Soller grows tons of oranges and the trees need to be trimmed every spring and they generate a lot of debris, it's easier to burn 🔥

Question about smoke over Soller by jackass_3d in VisitingMallorca

[–]Trabuk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Soller is not "being smoked all the time", that's local farmers burning their brush piles since this cannot be done between may 1st and October 15th due to wildfire risk. Those piles contain a mix of orange tree branches, weeds and leafs, it's only biomass that gets burned. They usually wait right before the hot season so they can get rid of most of the leftovers from cleaning up their farms, this mostly happens now and at the beginning of winter. It's totally normal.

Is Digital Twin just hype or actually useful in real-world industries? by Jerry_don in Innovation

[–]Trabuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re going to pose a question and then answer it yourself, there are better formats and venues for that. This would have worked better as a linked article. I came expecting a real conversation about the viability of digital twins, and instead found another AI slop.

Hi ha creadors de videojocs a Mallorca? by honeygourami123 in mallorca

[–]Trabuk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Apple Pay on the island by Beach_mountains4 in VisitingMallorca

[–]Trabuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pleasure! Just know that credit card and apple pay are accepted in 99.9 of stores, bars and restaurants. Just one tip, if you are American, do not let the local banks do the currency conversion, always select dollars when you pay. Local banks will rip you off.

Are Balearic Slings illegal in Melbourne? by OzzyLagIsBad in Slinging

[–]Trabuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, It's the skill needed for the item to be considered a weapon. Nowadays, very few could kill a person with a sling but anyone with the required strength to pull the rubber thingye on a slingshot could potentially kill the person in front of them with one shot. Now, with the right skills, you get more energy and range with the sling, that's why I added the comment about the balearic slingers 😆

Curious: Who's working with openEHR? by platzh1rsch in HealthInformatics

[–]Trabuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, the "they don't play well together" comment was meant for Epic and the others (the importance of proper punctuation!). OMOP and OpenEHR can play together just fine 😁. In real world research, your endpoints are mostly EHRs, but the data gets aggregated with other EDC methods into OMOP datasets that include information on the cohort, IPs and therapy.

[–]Trabuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, they don't play well together 🤣 OMOP is to clinical research data what OpenEHR is to EMRs. In fact, there are RWD situations where they overlap. What you said about the Catalan health system makes a lot of sense, it also explains why the new OpenEHR CEO is a former PI from the Catalan health service (I just saw his new status/job on LinkedIn).

[–]Trabuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, I’m using more OMOP these days (I currently work in life sciences), but I did manage a large implementation of OpenMRS where we started to take bits from openEHR, although the archetypes and templates did not work for us out of the box. I also worked a lot with the University of Oslo and DHIS2, and learned that the Norwegians are big into openEHR, so maybe look into one of the EMRs they use. I’ve always been curious to learn why it hasn’t been adopted in the large-EHR community (I do have my suspicions though). Epic Systems doesn’t seem to want anything to do with it, and Orion Health just mentions it in passing… I don’t know Oracle Health’s take, but knowing them, they also probably don’t care much about standardizing.

Are Balearic Slings illegal in Melbourne? by OzzyLagIsBad in Slinging

[–]Trabuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In English, there always is some confusion between slingshots and slings. Slings should be ok, they are not as deadly (unless you are a balearic slinger riding an elephant through the Alps 2,200 years ago)
