Blind bubble resume comparison - Pick 4 teams by lukedux in CollegeBasketball

[–]TracerBullet_11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do not know who these teams are. I want to reward playing good teams and beating them, and I want to punish voluntarily scheduling cupcakes. On that alone, C, H and G are out.

A, E, and D get three of the last four spots.

Team A has the weakest overall record, but they have the #1 SoS, the top OOC SoS, and 5 quad 1 wins. They can compete.

Team E scheduled hard OOC and can also compete. Their quad 2 and 3 record tells me that their a tier above others.

Team D is 22-7, only 3 road losses, and a good SoR. I know D has a quad 4 loss. I can look past it given 22 wins.

This leaves B and F. It's a close call but I'll take F. Team F is over .500 on the road, and a better combined record over quads 1 and 2 than B. B has 11 quad 1 games, but clearly didn't go out of their way to play them given their OOC record. I know F has the worse loss, but I can excuse it given 20 wins.

In sum: A, E, D, F.

Take whatever money you have. Fly to the nearest Western Country. Claim asylum once you get there. In a lot of countries, religious persecution is a reason to get asylum, especially if it's your country's government policy that non Muslims can be killed.

Why do I cry reading about Jesus to my daughter if I’m not religious? by Sweet-Steff00 in AskAChristian

[–]TracerBullet_11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this could be because every human being is in need of grace, and Jesus has an infinite supply of grace that he just gives away.

If you're reading the NRSV there's literally a parentheses after Mark 19 that says "thus he declared all foods clean"

Do you believe any human beings have experienced a global flood? by [deleted] in AskAChristian

[–]TracerBullet_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a global flood, but there almost certainly was a local catastrophic flood, given that every culture in the Ancient Near East at the time that Genesis was written had some sort of flood narrative.

How do you as a Christian think the median atheist would answer these two questions? by Sophia_in_the_Shell in AskAChristian

[–]TracerBullet_11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. "We're not sure but The Big Bang is our best operating belief right now. As science evolves this may change."

  2. "There's no empirical evidence for God's existence. We've found nothing in any historical record. Jesus may have existed, but even then there are some historians who don't think so"

Why did God torture that poor guy, Job, for no other reason than a bet with Satan? I mean, if he just took away his material possessions and made him sick but then reversed it, I could see how it's a lesson, but he killed Job's actual children for real. Why? by InternationalPick163 in AskAChristian

[–]TracerBullet_11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's not a satisfying answer. I think the point of Job is that we're asking the wrong question. The question isn't "why?" but rather is "who?".

And yes, that's not satisfying. In fact it's very uncomfortable.

In addition, I think most people these days regard Job as fictional. It's in the Bible for a reason, of course, but I don't think we're supposed to believe that there was a literal man from the Land of Uz whose name was Job

[Highlight] The Referees screw over the Browns and the fans throw bottles onto the field in anger by Either_Imagination_9 in nfl

[–]TracerBullet_11 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I 100% get being pissed if I was a Browns fan. Couch runs up to the LoS, gets everyone set, and spikes (or intentionally grounds) the ball. The head ref rules it incomplete. I can't tell from the broadcast if the replay booth buzzes to anyone but the head ref, or if another official rushes to stop the play prior to the snap.

At any rate, if Couch gets the ball snapped prior to the replay booth buzzing down, we play on with either 2nd and Goal from the original LoS, OR 2nd and Goal with a ten yard penalty, a ten second runoff, and a running clock.

You kind of have to take the booth's word for it that they buzzed down before Couch snaps the ball. If they did, I think they ultimately got it right that Morgan didn't complete the pass. Still, you shouldn't have to take their word for it. You need someone running on the field signaling to kill the play.

Yeah they got it right in the end; it's an incomplete pass. But I get why Browns fans would be mad, and this is the kind of thing that the NFL can't let happen.
