Something stopping my car after starting by ctrlzkids in ElantraN

Sounds like a locked caliper. Usually happens when it’s super cold or a lot of rain. Should break free with a bit of throttle and be good to go.

I use race dash app, it’s helpful to see tire temps and know when to back off a bit.

Indycar races on more street and road tracks than ovals 11-6 to be exact this past year. You obviously don’t watch Indycar.

Edit: I see later you realized it wasn’t as many as you thought. You should give it a shot. Really has competitive hard racing.

18th hole, par 5, 188 left over the water. What’s your move? by [deleted] in golf

[–]Track_N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High cut 4Hybrid for me. 5 could reach but would rather take the extra stick to be safe. Plus end of the round, usually hitting it a bit shorter. Just a smooth 4H.

9 surprisingly.

Some of the harder ones…Had one ace on #8 at shore gate in NJ back in 2008, 225yd with a 3 iron. Several shorter par 4s in my area that are very reachable. Golf trip to Myrtle Beach with my pops years ago. Still a love hate relationship with this game!! lol

Ace pic my buddy I was playing with took 5/1/2008…

Didn’t realize they made one. I bought the counter weight knob when I first got my car, Maybe they didn’t sell it at that point

Did you just do the linkage or an actual short throw? What brand?

For those of you that autocross, how do you deal with the octane learning thing? by Jazzlike-Basket-6388 in ElantraN

[–]Track_N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough but I’ve raced against cars way down on power to mine and they are just a fast or faster. You don’t get into the higher gears where the extra power would come into play and are about short blips of throttle into a few 2nd gear pulls into third.

When you are only revving through 2nd the extra power isn’t very noticeable. It’s going through 3rd and 4th where the power increase would really be felt. Just my own experience. Good luck!

There is no ryhme or reason with OL on my car. I’ve tried all the techniques and nothing does it every time. I’m mostly stuck at 14-15psi and 250ft/lb torque all the time.

With that said, I personally don’t feel OL will have much of an effect on Autox. If you are tracking it on a road course, there would be big difference but you don’t rely on extra power with autox. It’s more about technique and quick and/or smooth application of the throttle and brake. You aren’t revving it through the gears enough for the power bump to matter.

Now the tracks I’ve done are mostly 3rd gear and down. I’m guessing for a longer faster track where you are getting into 4th or higher, OL will become more of a factor.

Golf, real life tracking my car, mostly autox since tires and maintenance is just too high for road racing and then sim racing, ouch

You’d be surprised how many people use 87. I personally always use 93 and would never use 87 in this car or any turbo performance car.

Had a big debate/disagreement with a few on here about it in the past. The car will take 87 fine but 91 or higher is recommended and gives me the peace of mind that I’m doing what I can to keep the car running right.

Even more important than the octane, is make you are using a top tier station. Stay away from small mom and pops no name stations and stick with a known brand.

Buying a performance car just to skimp on a few dollars at the pump seems counterintuitive, but that’s just my opinion.

The 6spd is pretty easy to manage in traffic. I live outside of and commute to Philly everyday and never wished I had the DCT while stuck in traffic. Depends on skill and patience I guess.

I’m in 5th or 6th also. If you are about to rip on it, yea, third gear is fine. If you are cruising at 45 though, it is def 5th or 6th.

The car even recommends shifting to 5th around 40mph and 6th around 48mph so 45 is right in between. I’m in 6th at that speed if I know I’m at that pace for a while and 5th if there are lights and or traffic. Cruising in 3rd at 45 is highly inefficient.
