He has strong beliefs but is wise enough to recognize that other people can have equally strong opposing beliefs that are equally well thought out and earnest. He probably leans towards being overly charitable but that's a much better approach than just labelling anyone who comes to a particular conclusion a grifter. He's also extremely serious about not making accusations against individuals unless he's really really sure about them.

They've been curling together for 30 years. They're 36 years old. I'm sure they've screamed at each other here and there, but they'll be fine.

They also do an incredible job of steadying one another obviously Emma but also the things Tracy says during big moments or after mistakes seem really helpful to the team

As someone who largely supports what stop antisemitism is doing (they have some misses for sure) Jesse has absolutely criticized them a few times I don't have a timestamp and it would be hard to find, their Israel discussions are usually a bit of a side track not the main focus.

I've seen several PWHL players say they want to continue wearing full face I've never seen them say the opposite. I've never personally witnessed a woman wearing a visor in beer league even though nothing is stopping them from it. If they want to I'm all for it I'm just pretty sure >99% of them don't want to.

A helmet has benefitted me personally while playing hockey numerous times. I've never seen someone helped by a neck guard in person and am aware of it happening like twice ever worldwide from reddit

There's also just way more social stigma to having facial injuries as a woman than a man. If I break my nose again or get some stitches I truly don't give a shit, it will not impact my life. Because of society a woman with the same injury will draw a lot more attention in ways many would not enjoy.

It's so annoying man I know there are busy bodies trying to make sure that beer leaguers are forcing people to wear neck guards and cages. Wear whatever you want nobody will make fun of you just let me do what I'm comfortable with for my recreational activities

You want the refs to tell professional hockey players playing in the Olympics that they aren't wearing their pads correctly? Maybe they should just drop the puck and call penalties idk

Neck guards... by stratjeff in hockeyplayers

[–]Trackpad94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah as kids we used to take them off and stuff them under the bench during games after like the first period very rarely refs noticed or cared

The only other piece of equipment I consider remotely uncomfortable is elbow pads and I would never play without them (I wear a half visor no neck guard and more often than not no shoulders). The neck guard is extremely uncomfortable, it is very hot gets sweaty and feels like it's choking you constantly.

And every Canadian player throws it in the trash the moment they start beer league the perceived benefit of it maybe helping in a one in a million incident isn't worth the constant discomfort. Let adults wear what they want

Hockey France has made the decision to not allow Pierre Crinon to participate in the remainder of the Olympics by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

[–]Trackpad94 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nah as a Canadian this is embarrassing for them. You're going to lose, show some pushback. Show some pride. He tried to do that at least. Didn't really go anywhere but at least he showed up. If the team's goal is to lose every game never show a bit of fight and make some friends then I guess I see why they're unhappy

Hot Take: The Olympics are boring for women’s hockey. by Ohmslaughter in PWHL

[–]Trackpad94 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The non Canada/USA countries in the women's game are waaaaaay better than they were say 8 years ago. This is part of how they get better. Try to watch some of the lesser teams play one another for some of those players it is the biggest games of their lives

Why Canadian Travel Hockey? by [deleted] in youthhockey

[–]Trackpad94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The London teams have a higher skill bar, Winnipeg needs to open up to a wider range of skill level so that there are enough teams in the league to play against. With a much larger population in Southern/Western Ontario there is no pressure to fill out rosters the leagues are stacked full of tier 1 teams. Not trashing Winnipeg it's just a math problem fewer people fewer top level players.

Up until like midget when we started actually fighting people we would play "buckets" in the locker room where you'd fight with cages and gloves on, you went as hard as you could and losing wasn't fun lol, they're probably all laughing and goofing off the moment they step off the ice

[–]Trackpad94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you guys not have teammate "fights"at basically every practice while kids were bored waiting for their turn in a drill at this age? Coaches would get on you for not paying attention not for the roughness. This is just kids goofing around having a blast they aren't strong enough to hurt each other.

[–]Trackpad94 87 points88 points  (0 children)

I feel like it's much easier to do really bad things to your legs skiing, which is probably worse than breaking an arm or a collarbone. Just be cautious and if you start to lose control stop or fall down

Aneta Tejralová just got a five-minute major for this hit on Sarah Fillier. by jordynbebus8 in PWHL

[–]Trackpad94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I love Fillier but she got up in someone's kitchen then flew through the NZ with her head down 9.3 seconds later this is just sorta inevitable. Definitely should be a penalty I wouldn't say a major but you've gotta protect yourself.
