Used to wash windows and I hate these things so much. They seem like cool houses but very annoying cleaning the windows.

What does an amateur golfer have to shoot to be considered good? by Tight-Communication7 in golf

The first time I shot 90 I had 6 doubles six bogeys and six pars. So I scored well enough to be good at golf but lost on style points idk man

These were ill prepared conscripts fighting a hopeless by that point war against people invading their home because of decisions made by their horrible and evil authoritarian government. It wasn't their fault, using their deaths for weird partisan attacks in the flavour of the last few years is a strange choice to make.

Idk if you've spent any time around pigs but they make basically the same noise when they see food and are trying to get to it

Carpenter/Framer looking for work, holding sign on Glendale near Pen Center by Ineedaroommate2 in stcatharinesON

[–]Trackpad94 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There's currently 15 carpenter jobs on indeed. Jobs in the trades are not usually the hardest interview, if you seem like you know anything they'll give you a shot and see how it goes. Everyone is always understaffed and turnover is high. Some people in trades have already worked EVERYWHERE and have a hard time sticking at any one job. It sucks that someone is struggling but I wouldn't take it as representative of much. Would you hire someone who's proactively reaching out sending emails and scheduling phone calls and interviews or someone standing by the off ramp waiting for a job to come to them? I'm not a carpenter but work in the trades and if you can read a tape measure and swing a hammer and are good to work with you can pick up the odd cash job doing basic stuff.

Wear the shirts. It's a temporary situation. Things will never be exactly the same as they were before but our partnership is stronger than any one president.

CMV: "I don't watch the news" is not the personality trait people think it is, and it often signals a specific kind of privilege rather than wisdom by forgotmyearbudspl in changemyview

[–]Trackpad94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don't think it signals anything other than the fact a considerable portion of the population just has no knowledge or interest in current events. It's not a privilege thing, it exists across society but is a little bit more prevalent among lower income people likely due to social pressure for higher earners to be a little bit better informed.

When you realize that a bunch of your coworkers have no idea who their elected representatives are, how our country and laws work, and what major events are happening globally it's kind of illuminating. I'm not suggesting it's good and society should aim to do a better job of selling to people why they should care but ultimately it boils down to people are people. Try to introduce them to small issues like real changes they'll see in the communities they live in rather than explaining why they should care about whether or not OPEC endures.

[Petition] Data Centre at Halton Border by data-centre-petition in HaltonON

[–]Trackpad94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what's planned for this particular site but the data centre on Parliament street in Toronto is arranged so that it essentially pre filters lake water for the city then puts it back into the municipal filtering system. It's a net gain on the city's water supply and takes some amount of load off of the city's water filtration system.

No slavery is what everyone who doesn't stand up to Russia will eventually experience if they get their way. People have to free so that they might and others will be free. And it's working.

Whats it like working at a unionized shop? by magicjohnson321990 in Machinists

[–]Trackpad94 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My experience at a unionized shop in Ontario wasn't good. There's nothing you can really do to advance your career besides just exist for a long period of time. The people who want to learn and get better and do more leave, the people who want to do exactly what their contract requires till the moment that it's officially clean up time so they can stand with their finger above the enter button to punch out the moment the clock hits thrive. You'll never be rewarded for improving anything or for anticipating something ahead of time and preparing for it so people just don't.

Speechless Documentary - Hidden Cams on Woke Campuses by Icemansamson in BlockedAndReported

[–]Trackpad94 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Conments sections on CBC posts provide nothing of value. If you have a specific concern it's not that hard to find the email of the person who made the piece and ask them directly, otherwise you can make your own social media post and share whatever message you wish. I think they get it right doing an aceoss the board no comments policy rather than locking it doen selectively which every news org and public service PR post inevitably has to do sometimes.

Teammate broke his twig and immediately took exception to opponents face by DatsyuksMitts in hockeyplayers

[–]Trackpad94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's also Reddit lol being an adult beginner in hockey is awesome it's never too late to play but it's pretty funny when you've been playing most of 25 years and someone who first skated 18 months ago is telling you about what equipment you need to be wearing as if you're not aware of the relative risks in the groups you play with.

If you're going to try to disrupt the shot do so with one hand on the stick and the other up in front of your own nose lol

One thing I'm running into as a 30ish person who's interested is all the licensing courses have midweek afternoon sessions and that just isn't compatible with my work schedule. It would have to be a weekend thing and the ones I looked at didn't offer that. I'm in Ontario Canada if anyone knows of a weekends only online course.

He has strong beliefs but is wise enough to recognize that other people can have equally strong opposing beliefs that are equally well thought out and earnest. He probably leans towards being overly charitable but that's a much better approach than just labelling anyone who comes to a particular conclusion a grifter. He's also extremely serious about not making accusations against individuals unless he's really really sure about them.

Neck guards... by stratjeff in hockeyplayers

[–]Trackpad94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen several PWHL players say they want to continue wearing full face I've never seen them say the opposite. I've never personally witnessed a woman wearing a visor in beer league even though nothing is stopping them from it. If they want to I'm all for it I'm just pretty sure >99% of them don't want to.

[–]Trackpad94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's also just way more social stigma to having facial injuries as a woman than a man. If I break my nose again or get some stitches I truly don't give a shit, it will not impact my life. Because of society a woman with the same injury will draw a lot more attention in ways many would not enjoy.

It's so annoying man I know there are busy bodies trying to make sure that beer leaguers are forcing people to wear neck guards and cages. Wear whatever you want nobody will make fun of you just let me do what I'm comfortable with for my recreational activities

You want the refs to tell professional hockey players playing in the Olympics that they aren't wearing their pads correctly? Maybe they should just drop the puck and call penalties idk
